Dynamic Basis EA — Recommended Settings for GBPUSD and USDJPY
Dynamic Basis EA is designed to focus on meaningful market movements rather than reacting to every small price fluctuation. Its trading logic combines a structured range formula, directional bias, and predefined trade management rules to identify opportunities when market conditions support a potential move.
Risk Management and Trading Approach
Risk management is an essential part of any automated trading strategy. Dynamic Basis EA includes configurable risk settings and predefined Stop Loss and Take Profit levels, helping traders define trade risk and manage positions according to their chosen parameters.
The EA does not rely on grid trading, martingale, or loss-recovery methods that progressively increase exposure after losing trades. Instead, it follows a rule-based approach in which losses are an accepted part of trading.
Before running the EA on a live account, review the risk settings carefully. Position size, account balance, leverage, broker conditions, spreads, and execution costs can all affect the outcome. Start with a risk level appropriate for your account and test the settings thoroughly before considering live trading.
No strategy or risk management system can eliminate trading risk or guarantee profits.
Why the 1-Hour Timeframe?
Dynamic Basis EA has been optimized for GBPUSD and USDJPY, using the 1-hour chart for trading and the 4-hour timeframe for directional bias.
This timeframe combination is deliberate. Lower timeframes can generate more frequent signals from smaller price fluctuations, potentially leading to excessive trading and increased exposure to spreads and transaction costs.
Dynamic Basis EA is designed to participate when price is making a more meaningful move, rather than attempting to buy or sell every minor fluctuation. The 4-hour directional bias provides a broader market perspective, while the 1-hour timeframe is used for trading decisions.
The objective is a more selective trading approach that focuses on market structure and direction instead of reacting to every short-term price movement.
Recommended Settings
The downloadable settings files are prepared for the following symbols:
-
GBPUSD — optimized settings for the 1-hour chart, with directional bias from the 4-hour timeframe.
-
USDJPY — optimized settings for the 1-hour chart, with directional bias from the 4-hour timeframe.
Important: Use these settings on the 1-hour timeframe in both the Strategy Tester and the live chart. The EA uses the 4-hour timeframe internally for directional bias, so you should not change the chart to H4 just because the bias timeframe is H4.
The included set_files.zip archive contains the settings files for both GBPUSD and USDJPY.
Backtest Before Live Trading
Before using the EA on a live account, run a Strategy Tester backtest with Visual Mode enabled. Observe how the EA identifies trading opportunities, opens and manages positions, and handles exits.
Review the results, examine the drawdown and losing periods, and decide whether the strategy's trading behaviour suits your preferences and risk tolerance. Backtest results are historical and do not guarantee future performance.
