One Strategy, Three Grades: How to Choose the Right GoldDragon

Since GoldDragon went live on the Market, one question comes up more than any other:

"Safe, Standard or Aggressive. Which one should I buy?"

The short answer: choose by the size of your account and the drawdown you can sit through, not by the profit number. All three grades run exactly the same strategy. Below I explain what is actually different, show the numbers side by side, and share some news at the end: the live signal has started, and it is now tracked on Myfxbook too.

1. One strategy, one difference

All three grades use the same entries, the same exits and the same fixed stop-loss on every trade.

  • No grid
  • No martingale
  • No averaging down

If you ran the three grades side by side on the same account, they would open the same trades at the same time.

The only difference is how far the position size is allowed to grow. GoldDragon compounds: as the balance grows, the lot grows with it. Each grade puts a ceiling on that growth:

  • Safe: lot can grow up to 5x the base lot
  • Standard: up to 10x
  • Aggressive: up to 20x

Until an account reaches its grade's ceiling, the three grades trade identically. The ceiling only decides how big the account can get before the EA stops increasing risk.

2. The numbers, side by side

Drawdown grows with the multiplier, roughly in proportion. Profit grows too, but so does the size of the bad days.

Version 1.20, MT5 Strategy Tester, Jan 2025 to Sep 2026 (21 months), 99% history quality, 2,508 trades:

Grade Start deposit Net profit Profit factor Max equity DD Worst losing streak
Fixed lot (reference) $1,000 +$15,083 2.05 5.1% 12 trades, -$278
Safe (5x) $1,000 +$67,729 2.02 6.5% 12 trades, -$1,389
Standard (10x) $2,000 +$112,985 2.13 8.7% 12 trades, -$2,777
Aggressive (20x) $2,000 +$193,827 2.20 11.9% 12 trades, -$5,554

Look at the last column. The losing streak is the same 12 trades in every grade, because the trades are the same. What changes is the dollar size of that streak. On Aggressive it is twenty times the fixed-lot loss.

One more thing I learned from testing: below the ceiling, drawdown in percent is set by your starting capital, not by the grade. Safe and Aggressive started on the same $1,000 produced almost identical results. Starting Aggressive on $2,000 instead of $1,000 roughly halved the relative drawdown in the weakest period. That is why each grade has a recommended deposit.

Backtest results do not guarantee future performance.

3. How to choose

Grade Recommended deposit Minimum deposit Choose it if
Safe $1,000 $300 You want the smoothest ride, or this is your first EA
Standard $2,000 $700 You have a medium account and accept larger swings
Aggressive $2,000 $1,000 You have the capital and can watch a losing streak without touching anything

My honest advice: if you are unsure, start with Safe. A strategy only works if you are still running it after the bad week. The grade you can hold through 12 losses in a row is the right grade for you.

The minimums rise with the multiplier on purpose. A small account on a high multiplier is where drawdown gets out of hand.

4. The live signal has started

Backtests are a starting point, not proof. So I have started a new live signal: one account, one track record, shared by all three grades. It runs GoldDragon v1.20 on a real IC Markets account that started with $1,000.

You can follow it in two places:

And to be honest from day one: the signal closed its first day in the red. That is normal. The backtest above includes a streak of 12 losses in a row, and the fixed stop-loss is there exactly to keep days like this small. I am not changing any settings. The point of a live signal is to show you the real thing, good days and bad days alike.
