From Trader to MSX AI Trading — My 16+ Year Trading Journey and the Development of MSX AI Multi Symbol Scalper — Article #37
My name is Som Prakash Gehlot, founder of MSX AI Trading and the person behind the development of MSX AI Multi Symbol Scalper for MetaTrader 5.
My trading journey spans more than 16 years, but my journey as an MT5 product developer is much more recent.
This distinction is important.
I did not spend 16 years developing Expert Advisors. My 16+ years represent my overall journey as a trader—from learning trading from the ground up, through manual trading in Indian markets, international trading, experience with third-party automated systems, difficult trading experiences, and finally the decision to build my own trading tools.
This article explains that journey and how it eventually led to the development of the MSX AI Trading project.
My Trading JourneyI began trading by learning from the ground up and spent most of my trading years as a manual trader in the Indian markets, including NSE and BSE and different market segments through Indian broker platforms.
Like many traders, my journey was not simply a story of success.
I experienced difficult periods and significant capital losses. Those experiences became an important part of my understanding of trading—not only the market itself, but also the importance of risk, position sizing, discipline and capital protection.
After the COVID period, I moved away from the Indian market and began exploring international trading platforms.
I first worked with MT4 and later moved to MetaTrader 5.
During this period, I also experimented with various free and paid Expert Advisors available through the MQL5 Marketplace and other trading communities.
Unfortunately, my experience with automated trading also included further losses.
However, those experiences eventually changed the way I looked at automated trading.
Why I Decided to Build My Own Trading Systems
After using different automated systems, I realized that I wanted something different from simply finding an EA that someone else had already created.
I wanted to build trading tools around my own trading requirements, trading style and risk-management approach.
That became the starting point for my own development journey.
I wanted the system to consider more than just:
“When should a trade be opened?”
I became increasingly interested in the complete trading lifecycle:
- How should a trading condition be identified?
- How should an entry be confirmed?
- How should position size respond to account conditions?
- How should available free margin be managed?
- How should a position be managed after entry?
- How should partial profits be handled?
- What should happen when market conditions reverse?
- How should an EA protect capital?
- How should several EA instances operate within the same trading account?
These questions eventually became the foundation of the MSX AI Trading architecture.
Beginning of MSX AI Trading
My own MSX product development began in October 2025.
I want to be clear about my role.
I am primarily a trader and system designer, not a professional software programmer.
My contribution is to define the trading concepts, system architecture, rules, calculations, risk controls and required behavior.
AI development tools—including ChatGPT and other AI tools—have helped me transform those concepts into functional MetaTrader 5 indicators and Expert Advisors.
Since October 2025, this project has been continuously developed, tested, refined and documented.
At 63, I continue this work with the objective of applying the practical lessons from my trading journey to the development of structured automated trading systems.
MSX AI Trading
MSX AI Trading is my ongoing algorithmic trading project for MetaTrader 5.
The project is based on the idea that an automated trading system should be considered as a complete architecture rather than simply an entry-signal generator.
My approach combines several areas:
- Trend and market-condition analysis
- Multi-layer entry confirmation
- Trade lifecycle management
- Adaptive money management
- Free-margin and margin-level controls
- Execution protection
- Session and weekend management
- Local and account-level capital protection
- Multi-symbol and multi-instance deployment
The underlying principle is straightforward:
An automated trading system involves more than finding an entry signal.
Signal logic, position sizing, execution, margin management, trade management and capital protection all operate within the same trading-account environment.
From Individual Products to One Main Development Project
During the development of MSX AI Trading, I created and published different indicators and Expert Advisors.
These products represent different stages, components and specialized implementations developed during the evolution of the project.
Some remain available as free products, while others are commercial products.
However, my future development direction is now much more focused.
I do not intend to continually create new, unrelated Expert Advisors.
My primary development focus is the continued improvement of:
MSX AI Multi Symbol Scalper
The current version is v2.10.
Future development will remain focused on this architecture, with new versions introduced when meaningful improvements are possible and when available technology allows them.
The other products remain part of the broader MSX AI Trading ecosystem as supporting, companion or earlier/specialized products.
MSX AI Multi Symbol Scalper v2.10
MSX AI Multi Symbol Scalper is a flexible MetaTrader 5 Expert Advisor designed for single-market operation as well as multi-symbol, multi-timeframe and multi-instance portfolio deployment.
Its architecture includes:

The EA can operate as one independently configured instance or as part of a larger multi-instance portfolio.
The actual deployment depends on the user's account, broker environment, available capital and MT5/VPS resources.
The 12-symbol / 24-directional-engine configuration used in my Strategy Tester Analysis Series is a reference portfolio configuration, not a hard-coded maximum of the EA.
Why Is It Called "Scalper"?
One common question is why the product is called a Scalper when it is not restricted to very short timeframes.
The name does not mean that the EA is limited to M1 or M5 trading.
MSX AI Multi Symbol Scalper supports the standard MT5 timeframe range and can be configured for different trading horizons, including short-term, intraday, swing and longer-term positional approaches.
The "Scalper" designation primarily relates to the system's Multi-Stage Partial Profit Management, where position volume can be progressively reduced according to configurable profit-management settings.
The trading timeframe remains a user-configurable parameter.
How I Approach System Design
My development approach is built around several interconnected areas.
Trend Intelligence
The system uses multiple analytical layers to evaluate market conditions.
Entry Confirmation
Entry decisions use multiple conditions rather than relying on a single signal.
Position Sizing
Trade volume can be adapted according to configured risk and account conditions.
Margin Management
The system considers available capital, free margin and projected margin requirements as part of the trading environment.
Trade Management
The system continues managing the position after entry rather than treating the opening signal as the end of the process.
Capital Protection
Configurable local and account-level protection mechanisms form part of the overall architecture.
Multi-Instance Architecture
The framework can be deployed as a single EA or across multiple independently configured instances.
How I Document and Evaluate the System
An important part of the MSX AI project is documentation.
I publish technical articles and Strategy Tester analysis so that users can study the architecture and testing methodology rather than relying only on a short product description.

Because MSX AI Multi Symbol Scalper is designed for flexible multi-symbol deployment, I created a 12-Symbol Strategy Tester Analysis Series.
The purpose of the series is to provide documented historical testing information for individual symbols.
Each report can include:
- Symbol and timeframe
- Historical test period
- EA configuration
- Tester conditions
- Important input settings
- Profit and drawdown statistics
- Trade distribution
- Strategy Tester screenshots
These are historical Strategy Tester results only.
They are not live trading records, account statements, guarantees of future results or predictions of future performance.
Actual trading results may differ because of broker conditions, spreads, commissions, slippage, liquidity, symbol specifications, execution conditions and future market behavior.

My approach has been shaped by many years of actual trading experience, including both positive and negative experiences.
I do not believe an automated trading system should be evaluated only by its entry signal or by a single historical backtest.
My development therefore focuses on four interconnected areas:

The objective is to continue improving the MSX AI Multi Symbol Scalper architecture through practical development, testing, documentation and available technology.
Looking Forward
The MSX AI Trading project has evolved considerably since development began in October 2025.
What started as an attempt to build trading tools around my own requirements has developed into a broader MetaTrader 5 trading architecture.
My future direction is now clear:
Continue developing MSX AI Multi Symbol Scalper rather than continually creating new unrelated Expert Advisors.
As technology develops and new possibilities become available, I will continue evaluating where they can meaningfully contribute to the architecture.
The goal is not simply to add more features.
The goal is to continue developing a structured trading framework around the practical lessons learned throughout my trading journey.
