MT4 vs MT5 what's the idea?

Greetings !

Lately many people have been asking about this.

The eternal MQL problem, which in my memory has existed for more than 10 years.

I was not always a seller and was also of the opinion that MT4 is better, faster and more reliable.

This was a very long time ago and at that time no one understood exactly what the quality of quotes was and what they used to eat it with.

There was no pseudo AI and StrategyQuant

Therefore, when it all just began, MT4 was offered to brokers for free

Thousands of brokers began using MT4 for free.

The broker himself was not required to do anything other than transfer quotes and impose his conditions

This is how MQL was born, now it is a completely different story and the goals are completely different.

Then the goal was to attract as many audiences as possible to MT4.

Many to this day cannot give up the burden of MT4 and are not ready to switch to MT5.

And I understand them, MT4 is easier to hack, it’s easier to decompile such code, and that’s why there are so many fake companies for MT4

MT4 is so old that it does not support multiprocessing (without specific crutches).

MT4 was created in the days of single-core CPUs, it was about 20 years ago, maybe more.

Today, if you want to optimize a system in MT4, it will take you forever.

Previously it took me about 5 days!

5 days just to make rough settings that still won't work in real trading

In real trading, completely different quotes are used than during MT4 optimization

But this also has advantages of MT4

Sometimes it takes up less RAM than MT5 does

This is due to the fact that MT4 does not support multi-currency, so sometimes it simply cannot load several quotes for different trading instruments at once.

I very often came across such a bug, when there are simply no quotes, all the indicators simply lie badly, and when the system is first launched, very strange positions may appear, or the system may simply start with errors.

That is why, when checking the code when publishing in MT5, so much attention was paid to such subtleties.

This is also the merit of MT4.

So, we have already understood that in MT4 no one owes each other anything.

Therefore, you will never be able to get perfect quotes from your broker

Historical quotes in MT4 are just MQL quotes. Although MQL itself is not a broker.

The question is, then whose quotes are these?

Such quotes have a quality of 90% and it would seem cool

But here’s a question for you: if you have 10 million quotes and you lose 1 million, what role will this play?

Brokers don't owe their clients anything in MT4, that's why there are so many bad brokers in MT4

There are so few good brokers in MT5.

In MT5, the broker is obliged to provide the entire history in the best quality.

If this does not happen, then you simply will not be able to check the system and this will be noted for you.

This is like a warning and a stigma in MT5.

In MT4, no one cares about these troubles, no one cares what settings you use and what optimization they went through.

You can fly Formula 1 all the way through the snow-capped mountains of Everest and no one will care what suspension settings you choose.

That's why I don't strive to create systems in MT4, there are too many bad brokers.

I just don't want my friends to find a broker that gives a 500% bonus on deposit and itself has spreads 20 times higher than the raw spread on the market.

There are a lot of bad brokers in MT4 and we are increasingly noticing that many Prop firms simply go bankrupt.

They take millions of money from their users through commissions and spreads and then just explode, taking all the money

All these companies work with MT4 and they have no history or quotes, ever.

Therefore, always be careful with brokers that do not have MT5, but only MT4.

Choose MT5, or better use copying signals from MT5 to MT4

There are a lot of trusted brokers in MT5 who can additionally return your commission back to you!
