Max Drawdown Guardian watches your equity against the drawdown rule you trade under and acts before the rule is broken.
What it does
- Static or trailing drawdown, measured from initial balance, peak equity or highest closed balance. A trailing limit can stop at the initial balance.
- Eight ready-made rule presets (for example 10% static, 5% trailing from peak equity), or your own percentage or money amount.
- Two warnings before the limit, at 50% and 75% by default, sent as a pop-up, a push notification or an email.
- At the limit, it closes every monitored position, and it closes at once any new trade opened afterwards.
- Optional position limits for open trades and total lots. Choose Alert only (the default) or Block.
- A 30-day history of your worst drawdown each day, the distance below your account peak, and the gain needed to recover.
- Filters by magic number: all trades, listed magic numbers only, or everything except listed ones.
The panel
- GUARD tab: room before the stop, the share of the allowance left, and the stop level.
- HISTORY tab: the 30-day strip and recovery figures.
- LIMITS tab: the active rule, the warning thresholds and the position limits.
The panel can be dragged and collapsed, and it remembers where you put it.
Notes
- The initial balance and peak are saved per account, so a restart does not reset your rule.
- It works on any symbol and any account currency.
- It does not open trades.
Inputs
Drawdown Rule
- Rule Preset: one of eight ready-made rules, or Custom to use the settings below.
- Drawdown Type (Custom only): static from initial balance, trailing from peak equity, or trailing from highest closed balance.
- Max Drawdown, % of initial balance (Custom only): the limit as a percentage. Default 8.
- Max Drawdown in account currency (Custom only): the limit as a money amount. 0 uses the percentage.
- Trailing limit stops at initial balance (Custom only): the trailing limit never rises above the initial balance.
Account Reference
- Initial Balance: your starting balance. 0 uses the balance on the first run and saves it.
- Known Peak Equity: your highest equity so far. 0 tracks it from the first run.
- Reset saved reference and peaks on start: clears the saved values once.
Position Limits
- When a limit is exceeded: Alert only (default), or Block, which closes the trade that breaks the limit.
- Max open trades: 0 turns it off. Default 10.
- Max total lots: 0 turns it off. Default 2.0.
Warning Levels
- First warning: at this % of the drawdown limit. Default 50.
- Second warning: at this % of the drawdown limit. Default 75.
Scope
- Magic Number Filter: all trades, only the listed magic numbers, or all except the listed ones.
- Magic Numbers: comma-separated list.
Alerts
- MT5 On-Screen Alert, Push Notification (MT5 mobile app), Email Alert (uses the terminal's email settings).
