I have been noticing a lot of forum posts recently on ESEA on how to actually get better as a CSGO player. While most individuals who are playing are currently spending majority of their time either death matching or playing in a 5v5 setting, this is not exactly optimal for a new cs player.

Someone who is fundamentally sound in the game of counterstrike will get more out of deathmatching and 5v5’ing while the csgo skins person who is not polished, will not. Reason being, a polished player has less bad habits than someone who is not fundamentally sound. I am not against deathmatching, it has certain useful things about it (such as getting use to settings) but I feel there is a correct way to go about it and that’s not up for discussion today.

Scrimming is fundamental to improving at this game, this article is more geared towards people who want to perform better in pugs and individually. Scrimming teaches you a variety of things(multi tasking, communicating while playing, learning to play at forced paces, teamwork aspect of cs) but a lot of us just want to perform well individually before we take on scrimming/joining a league team.
