Breakout Sentinel

Breakout Sentinel is an Expert Advisor built around an adaptive ATR-based volatility channel. Instead of using fixed pip distances, the EA measures the recent highest and lowest price levels together with current market volatility (ATR) to define a breakout channel that adjusts automatically as conditions change.

How it works:

The EA tracks the highest high and lowest low over a configurable lookback period. When price closes beyond that channel by an ATR-scaled buffer, a position is opened in the direction of the breakout. Stop loss and take profit distances are also calculated as ATR multiples, so trade sizing adapts to the current volatility of the traded symbol instead of staying fixed.

Risk management features:

The EA checks available free margin before every trade attempt, using a safety buffer above the broker's calculated margin requirement. A spread filter blocks entries when the current spread exceeds a configurable maximum. Only one position is managed at a time per symbol and magic number. An ATR-based trailing stop can lock in profit as a trade develops, with logic that respects the broker's minimum stop distance and avoids invalid-stop errors when take profit is close to price.

Inputs:

Timeframe, channel lookback period, ATR period, ATR buffer multiplier, lot size, stop loss and take profit ATR multiples, trailing start and step ATR multiples, maximum spread in points, and an optional trading-hours filter.

Recommended use:

Test the EA in the Strategy Tester on your target symbol and timeframe before live use, and adjust the ATR multiples to match the instrument's typical volatility.
