TrendPulse Trend Following

TrendPulse is a trend-following Expert Advisor for MetaTrader 5. It trades only in the direction of the main trend and keeps risk under strict control on every trade.

Strategy

  • Entry on a crossover of a fast and a slow EMA (default 30 / 80).
  • Trades only when price is on the correct side of the EMA 200 trend filter.
  • RSI momentum confirmation filters out weak signals.
  • Signals are evaluated once per closed bar, so there is no repainting and no intrabar noise.

Risk management

  • Lot size calculated from a risk percentage of equity, or a fixed lot if you prefer.
  • ATR-based stop loss and take profit that adapt to current volatility.
  • Optional ATR trailing stop.
  • Daily loss limit: the EA stops opening new trades for the day once the limit is reached.
  • Spread filter and trading-hours filter.
  • One position per symbol. No martingale, no grid, no averaging.
  • Checks free margin, broker stop levels and volume limits before every order.

Backtest results

EURUSD H1, January 2023 to September 2026, 1% risk per trade, real broker history with 99% modelling quality: net profit 30.3%, maximum equity drawdown 6.1%, profit factor 1.35, Sharpe ratio 2.33, 181 trades. Parameters were optimized on 2023 to 2025 data only and then checked on unseen 2026 data, where the strategy remained profitable. Recommendations

  • Symbol: EURUSD. Timeframe: H1 (set in the inputs; the EA works on any chart).
  • Minimum deposit: 200 USD with 1% risk.
  • Any account type, hedging or netting.
  • Run on a VPS for uninterrupted 24/5 operation.

Input parameters

  • InpTF: signal timeframe (default H1).
  • InpFastEMA / InpSlowEMA / InpTrendEMA: EMA periods (30 / 80 / 200).
  • InpRSIPeriod, InpRSIBuyMin, InpRSISellMax: RSI filter settings.
  • InpRiskPercent: risk per trade in percent of equity (default 1.0).
  • InpFixedLot: fixed lot size; a value above 0 overrides risk-based sizing.
  • InpATRPeriod, InpSL_ATR, InpTP_ATR: ATR period and stop loss / take profit multipliers.
  • InpUseTrailing, InpTrail_ATR: ATR trailing stop on/off and distance.
  • InpMaxSpread: maximum allowed spread in points.
  • InpStartHour / InpEndHour: trading hours (server time).
  • InpMaxDailyLossPct: daily loss limit in percent (0 disables it).
  • InpMagic: magic number.
