DX Barrel is an Expert Advisor for WTI crude oil on the M15 chart. You can verify its backtest yourself.
The EA contains no hard-coded dates, no hidden calendars and no external files. Every decision comes from the compiled code reading live market data. The same file runs in the Strategy Tester and on your account, so you can test any period on any broker.
What it does
- Trades WTI crude oil (XTIUSD / USOIL / CL) on M15, long side only.
- Uses several independent entry models.
- Scales into strong dips with a deep-pullback engine, which adds positions with increasing lot sizes. This is a grid / multiplier technique.
- Adds small positions on pullbacks.
- Places a stop loss on the broker's server on every position the moment it opens.
- Pauses new entries for the rest of the day once the daily loss limit is hit.
Strategy Tester results
All results include commissions. Drawdown is the relative equity drawdown.
IC Markets XTIUSD M15, every tick, $10,000 starting balance, March 2018 to August 2026 (8.5 years):
- Risk Level 1 (Very Low): profit factor 1.63, max equity drawdown 2.3%, 4.1% per year compounded
- Risk Level 2 (Low): profit factor 1.65, max equity drawdown 5.0%, 8.6% per year compounded
- Risk Level 3 (Moderate): profit factor 1.69, max equity drawdown 7.2%, 13.3% per year compounded

Past results do not guarantee future results. Higher Risk Levels mean larger drawdowns. Start with a low level.
Inputs
- Sizing Mode: choose Automatic (Risk Level 1 to 7), Fixed lot per cycle, or Custom multiplier. In Custom mode, Level 4 equals 1.00 and the maximum is 2.50.
- Equity Stop %: closes everything when this drawdown is reached.
- Daily Loss %: pauses new entries for the rest of the day. The default is 5%.
- Max Open Lots and Max Spread.
- Broker clock: server time on NY close (GMT+2/+3), or a fixed GMT offset.
- Magic number, order comment, and an on-chart status panel.
On small accounts, a trade is skipped when the broker's minimum lot would make it more than twice its intended size. The lot is never rounded up.
Requirements
- Chart: WTI crude oil, M15, one chart only.
- Minimum deposit: $500 on a 100-barrel contract, such as IC Markets XTIUSD. On a 1,000-barrel contract, such as VT Markets CL-OIL-ECN, start with about $5,000; full sizing needs $25,000.
- Leverage: 1:100 or higher, on a hedging account.
- The terminal must run 24/5. A VPS is recommended.
- The EA is designed for WTI M15 only. On any other symbol or timeframe it runs a minimal demonstration mode: one small trade per day, with stop loss and take profit.
