AI Weekend Gap Trader

AI Weekend Gap Trader is a specialized Expert Advisor built around one of the most reliable recurring events in the forex market: the Monday opening gap. When markets reopen after the weekend, price frequently opens away from Friday's closing level - and that gap behaves differently depending on its size and the instrument. This EA measures the exact gap every Monday and can be configured to either fade it (trade the retracement back toward Friday's close) or follow it (trade continuation in the gap's direction).
KEY FEATURES
- Automatically detects last Friday's closing price and compares it to Monday's opening price to calculate the gap in points.
- Configurable minimum and maximum gap size filters - small gaps (noise) and abnormally large gaps (bad ticks, holiday illiquidity) are both skipped automatically.
- Choose your strategy: Fade Gap (mean-reversion) or Follow Gap (momentum continuation) with a single input.
- Only evaluates once per week, within a configurable window after Monday's open, so it never chases a gap that has already closed.
- Full position sizing based on account risk percentage, with stop-loss, take-profit and reward:risk ratio all configurable.
- Session-aware: only trades when the symbol's trading session is actually open, with a safety buffer around session edges.
INPUTS
- Min/Max Gap Points: the acceptable gap size range to act on
- Fade Gap: true = mean-reversion, false = momentum continuation
- SL Points / Reward:Risk Ratio: risk management
- Risk %: percent of account risked per trade
- Max Minutes After Open: how long after Monday's open the gap can still be traded
WHO IS THIS FOR
Traders who want to systematically capture the statistical tendencies around weekend gaps instead of watching the charts every Monday morning. Because it only trades once per week, it is naturally low-frequency and easy to monitor alongside other strategies.
Recommended to test on your preferred symbol's historical gap behavior (gold and major FX pairs tend to gap most reliably) before committing to live trading.
