Ribbon MTF EA
Overview
Ribbon MTF EA trades a moving average ribbon read simultaneously on three timeframes. A position is only opened when the fast and slow averages agree on all three, which filters out the majority of intraday noise and keeps the EA out of directionless markets.
How it works
* A fast and a slow moving average (SMA or EMA, same periods everywhere) are computed on M5, M15 and H1 at the same time. Alignment on the three timeframes is the entry condition.
* An ATR dead zone suppresses signals when the gap between the two averages is too small relative to volatility, which is what a range looks like from the inside.
* A Bollinger band on each timeframe drives a partial exit: a configurable share of the position is closed at the first target, the remainder is left to run.
* An ATR-based circuit-breaker stop is measured from the entry price, so the maximum loss of a trade is scaled to the volatility of the moment.
* Positions are counted by symbol and magic number in an explicit loop, so the EA behaves identically on hedging and netting accounts and never opens a duplicate position because it wrongly believed itself flat.
* The circuit-breaker stop is evaluated at the close of each M5 bar and closes the position at market. It is not a stop loss order held on the broker server, so an open position is unprotected while the terminal is disconnected.

Percentage of equity risked per trade, or a fixed lot when the risk percentage is set to zero.
Recommended use
Designed and tested on XAUUSD M5. No hardcoded symbol; it can be attached to any instrument, but gold is a volatile market and the parameters reflect that. Hedging or netting accounts, any broker, no DLL.
Backtest results
MetaTrader 5 Strategy Tester, 100% real tick data, January 2016 to June 2026, XAUUSD M5, initial deposit 10 000 USD, leverage 1:100: net profit 35 344 USD, profit factor 1.22, maximum balance drawdown 36.39%, 2 003 trades, 37.2% of trades profitable.
The drawdown figure is stated openly: this is an aggressive configuration on a volatile instrument.
