ORB Evolution - V2.4
ORB Evolution is a powerful Opening Range Breakout Expert Advisor for MT5 that combines classic ORB logic with modern signal evaluation, adaptive day assessment, and flexible trade management.
Instead of trading every breakout blindly, the EA first evaluates whether market environment, session, and signal quality actually align. The result is not just a simple breakout bot, but a structured trading framework for selective intraday setups.
Note:
A full explanation of all input parameters, settings, and the economic calendar database can be found in my blog post.
ORB Evolution will remain free for a while so that as many users as possible can test the EA, provide feedback, and contribute ideas for improvement. For a flexible multi-context system in particular, practical user feedback is extremely valuable.
At launch, a first set of tested configurations is already available. These are based on more than two years of backtesting and forward testing, including in-sample and out-of-sample evaluations. Additional testing, custom configurations, and community feedback are highly encouraged.
Why ORB Evolution?
ORB Evolution was built for traders who want to do more than automate breakouts. It is designed for users who want to filter better, select more precisely, and improve their setups more systematically.
- Structured ORB logic instead of simple range-break rules
- Two core trading models for direct breakouts and pullback entries
- Multi-stage signal evaluation instead of basic yes/no decisions
- Adaptive day and range assessment based on historical comparison
- Protective logic for spread, volatility, momentum, news, and overextension
- Single-symbol optimization and multi-symbol portfolio operation via profiles
- Extensive chart visualization for ranges, trading windows, levels, and statistics
The two core modes
- Acceptance Breakout (AB)
Designed for direct and convincing breakouts from the opening range. In V2.4, these signals are no longer treated as simply valid or invalid, but classified into quality tiers. Strong signals can therefore be traded more directly, while weaker signals may require additional confirmation or be filtered out completely. - Pullback Retest (PR)
Designed for controlled entries after a retracement into the breakout zone. This model is especially useful in markets that tend to shake traders out first before moving cleanly in trend direction. - AB -> PR Handoff
One of the key additions in V2.4 is the ability to hand off an AB context that is not cleanly tradable into a PR scenario. This helps preserve valuable market structure even when the direct breakout entry is not ideal.
What makes V2.4 stand out
- Smarter signals
Breakouts are no longer judged by price level alone, but also by candle quality, momentum, structure, and confirmation. This makes the signals more robust and more selective. - Adaptive day-quality assessment
Through the Range Tier system, the EA can distinguish between cleaner and weaker trading days. Poor or unusable days can therefore be filtered out much more consistently. - Better live-trading control
Additional protection mechanisms such as News Guard, ADR/Overextension, Exposure Overlay, and trade-lifetime rules help avoid poor entries and inefficient positions more effectively.
Rolling Decision Lens
One of ORB Evolution’s standout features is the Rolling Decision Lens. The EA can work with synthetic rolling HTF candles built from multiple bars of the base timeframe.
For example, 3 M5 candles can be combined into a synthetic rolling M15 candle that updates every 5 minutes. This enables HTF-style decision logic on the base rhythm without waiting for traditional higher-timeframe bar closes.
Single-symbol and multi-symbol
ORB Evolution is suitable both for the targeted optimization of individual setups and for structured portfolio-style operation across multiple symbols.
In single-symbol mode, the focus is on analysis, fine-tuning, and visualization.
In multi-symbol mode, multiple tested configurations can be combined through profiles within a single instance, allowing individual setups to evolve into a robust trading portfolio.
Visualization and analysis
The EA includes extensive visualization tools for both the chart and the strategy tester. These include the ORB range, the trading window, stop-loss and take-profit zones, as well as status and statistical information.
This makes ORB Evolution highly useful not only for live trading, but also for analysis and development.
It becomes easy to see whether a range was too small, too large, too noisy, or poorly timed, and whether the selected protection filters truly matched the setup.
Roadmap
ORB Evolution is under active development. The roadmap is clearly focused on more context, better selection, and more stable decisions without diluting the actual ORB core.
- more day and session intelligence
- better pre-breakout monitoring
- additional context layers for room ahead, SR, and nearby obstacles
- bias layers for session and trend
- more protection against late or overextended entries
- sharper quality logic for premium, tradable, and no-trade setups
- further infrastructure such as analytics, state recovery, and additional filters
Conclusion
ORB Evolution V2.4 is far more than a simple range-breakout EA.
It is a growing framework for structured intraday breakout setups with clear core logic, adaptive filters, and modern context layers.
If you want to do more than simply automate breakouts — if you want to select them more precisely, understand them better, and improve them systematically — ORB Evolution provides a very powerful foundation.
