A ZigZag indicator for MetaTrader 5 that finds swing highs and lows, spots W-bottom and M-top patterns, and gives a BUY or SELL signal when the second leg of a pattern forms at an H1 swing point and price breaks the trendline.
1. Key advantages
- See the structure at a glance. Clear red ZigZag lines join the major swings, with a down arrow on every swing high and an up arrow on every swing low.
- Trade with the higher timeframe. On M1, M5 or M15, a signal only appears when the second leg sits on an H1 swing high or low. This filters out many small, isolated patterns.
- Confirmed breakouts. A signal needs a candle to close through a trendline drawn across 48-period fractal highs or lows. A wick alone does not count.
- Fake breakouts get cleared. If price closes back through the line, or takes out the stop level, within a set number of bars, the signal disappears from the chart.
- Stop level included. Every signal shows the stop level, which is the price of the second leg.
- Alerts built in. Pop-up, sound and push notification, and an early alert when a second leg forms at an H1 swing.
- Ready for automation. Entry signals and stop levels are exposed in indicator buffers, so an Expert Advisor can read them.

3. How it works
- The indicator builds the ZigZag on your chart and an H1 ZigZag in the background.
- It looks for a W or M pattern among the latest swing points.
- It checks that the second leg sits on an H1 swing high or low.
- It draws a trendline through the fractal points and waits for a close beyond it.
- It shows BUY (W bottom) or SELL (M top) with a stop level and sends the alert.
- If the breakout fails within the hold window, the signal and its trendline are removed.
4. Things to know before you use it
- It needs a chart below H1 for the H1 filter. On H1 or higher, the filter switches itself off.
- The most recent signals are provisional. They can be cleared until the hold window has passed.
- The 48-bar fractal needs 48 bars on each side, so the newest 48 bars cannot become trendline points.
- Signals are fewer by design. Results depend on the symbol, the timeframe and your settings, so test before trading with real money.
