A professional economic news calendar for every chart — MT4 and MT5 — from the same trusted MQL5.com source.

MetaTrader 5 has a built-in economic calendar. MetaTrader 4 doesn't. This tool fixes that — and gives you a single, shared news feed that every chart on your PC or VPS can read, in both platforms.

Why I built it

This is the foundation for something bigger.

All my upcoming Expert Advisors are built around this news engine. Instead of locking news filtering inside each EA (the way most products do), I'm releasing the news system openly, so that:

  • You can see for yourself how accurate and reliable the news feed is, before you use any of my EAs
  • When you do use one of my EAs, it plugs straight into this shared news DB — no duplicate downloads, no third-party calendar service
  • Every one of my EAs gets the same benefit: news-aware trading on both MT4 and MT5, with full backtest support using real historical news
  • And mostly importantly, you can backtest and optimise your EA setting with this indicator, MT4 or MT5 EA.  

If you already have this installed, all my future EAs will "just work" with news filtering out of the box — on MT4 and MT5.

MT4 vs MT5 — what's the difference?

MetaTrader 5 is the source. Only MT5 can download news from MQL5.com. On your MT5 chart, this indicator fetches the calendar, filters it the way you want, and saves it to a shared folder on your computer.

MetaTrader 4 is the reader. MT4 cannot download news by itself. So the MT4 version of this indicator reads the news that MT5 already saved — no internet call, no API, no login. It simply displays the same news on your MT4 charts.

The bottom line: you must have MT5 (full version) installed on the same computer or VPS as your MT4. MT5 quietly keeps the news up to date in the background; MT4 just reads it.

How to use it on MT4

  1. Install MetaTrader 5 on the same PC or VPS as your MT4 (even if you only trade on MT4, you can run MT5 empty, with no account logged in, just for the news).
  2. Drop the MT5 indicator on any one MT5 chart. It will silently keep the news up to date in the background.
  3. Drop the MT4 indicator on as many MT4 charts as you want. Each chart will display the news. That's it.

You can close the MT5 chart's window, minimize MT5, or run it in the background — as long as MT5 is running somewhere on the machine, MT4 gets fresh news.
