And why are there so many birch trees...

This is a branch of humour! The photo is not of Sochi at all, but somewhere north of America.

Interesting observation:
P - let pedestrians run awkwardly through puddles
And water runs over the pavement in rivers,
I can't see why I'm so jolly on this bad day.
I'm not sure why I'm so cheerful.

How to get rich, the original 10 ways.

Surely many of us have thought of this genius idea - to take out a loan from a bank for, say, a billion dollars, and then buy that very bank and forgive yourself the debt. Except none of those people have yet figured out how to convince that institution to lend them that amount.

An enterprising American boy found a very simple way to make a profit. After buying the Nintendo console, coveted by all American kids, he cooked it up in the microwave without thinking twice. After that, a new lot appeared on the internet auction - a baked console, worth $6,000 and a poster: "You wanted a black Nintendo? Cock it up!".

Two residents of the Irkutsk region, crossing the bridge of the Chuksha river, suddenly realised that they were literally going for the money. Without thinking twice they got out of the car and began dismantling the bridge, or rather its cast-iron grates, hoping to make what they thought was a handsome profit. A passing policeman caught them in the act and prevented them from executing their business plan.

Tour operators in Germany are no strangers to this business. Weekend gold panning tours in the Rhine, on the border with France, are gaining in popularity. Businessmen, office workers and ordinary working people are gambling with shovels and standing knee-deep in cold water, hoping to find a nugget the size of a chicken egg and get rich beyond recognition. However, so far only tour operators have been making good money on this venture.

American schoolboy Carl Gadjah realized that it is possible to make good money on everyone's favorite freebie. He created an online auction, where he started selling stuff like free tickets to concerts, product samples, gift disks, etc. with incredible dexterity. Some of his peers call Karl a "cheapskate", but he only chuckles and gets rich.

Everyone is well aware of this story when a young American decided to trade a paper clip for something more useful. Then he got so carried away with the idea that he continued to do the exchange over the internet without spending a cent. And ten years later he got a mansion. It's a long way from a paperclip to a house, but there's no doubting its originality.

This method is not so much funny as it is interesting. And there are people who have been able to convince the bankers...
Vitaly Yusufov, the son of a former Russian energy minister, bought a 20% stake in the Bank of Moscow for about $1bn, taking a loan from the same Bank of Moscow. Now he is selling this stake to VTB for $2bn.
There is, of course, a catch, his father, former Minister of Energy of Russia Igor Yusufov is considered a confidant of Dmitry Medvedev. Therefore, the way will not suit everyone :))
