Discussion of article "Why Virtual Hosting On The MetaTrader 4 And MetaTrader 5 Is Better Than Usual VPS" - page 59

Clarify a simple question for a newbie.

1. My (multicurrency) Expert Advisor assumes constant changing of settings. In the local variant I just open the Expert Advisor settings panel and make changes. I can also switch it on/off.

2. My Expert Advisor constantly works with a file, where I enter control data, in particular, the time of work on symbols (I close trading on some, for example, usd-containing on news). I save the file to a disc (ssd). Expert Advisor monitors this file and the file I can replace/delete.

Question: is it possible to perform similar actions in case of using vps? Is there a possibility to send a remote MT5 file with a bunch of instructions? If it is already described somewhere, please give a link. Thanks in advance.

Good afternoon, need some advice....

Connected MT VPS, migrated everything, received confirmation of success.

I opened 2 identical accounts with the same Broker, the same Expert Advisor is running on them, one terminal is running on a regular VPS / the second one was connected to MT VPS yesterday.

With a regular VPS trades are executed.

With MT VPS - no (attached log).

Please advise me, what can be the problem?

Does the EA itself write anything in the logs? To understand that it does something.

You've shown the Log of the Terminal virtual platform. What's in the Advisor log?

1) I will attach the log of the EA. Does it clarify the picture? The operations should have taken place at night (from 00:00 to 7 am).

2) After migrating all settings from Terminal to MT_VPS. I closed the original terminal on my PC (clicked on the cross) - could this be the reason? I think not, because the point of VPS is that it works independently. The VPS was actually working, it can be seen from the logs, it just did not perform operations.

Contact the author of the EA - logging is very poor. Suspicion of working OR with dll or with requests through the internet.

You're right. It does work with"dll and requests via the Internet".

DLLs are specially enabled in the terminal settings and URLs are added.

But can this be the reason why it doesn't work? Aren't DLL and Web Requests settings migrated to VPS?

There are enough people who have this EA and MT_VPS bundle working - and I did all settings and migration exactly like them, according to the same instructions.

Terminal Help: 24x7 Virtual Hosting / Migration

  • DLL calls are completely forbidden in the virtual platform. The first attempt to call a function from a DLL will stop the running programme with a critical error.
  • Charts without EAs do not participate in the synchronisation of the platform with the virtual server, even if custom indicators are running on them. To migrate a separately running custom indicator, run an "empty" Expert Advisor on its chart that does not perform any actions. It can be easily generated through the MQL5 Wizard in MetaEditor by selecting the "Expert Advisor: template" item. This ensures that the migration of custom indicators is done consciously.

Good afternoon,

I have an account on the MQL5 website.

I have several clients and would like to set up virtual meta trader hosting (VPS) for them.

To facilitate the operation, can I pay for the virtual terminal for my clients from my account?

I haven't seen anything in the VPS rules that prohibits this.

Thank you.

Guys, I'm a layman on the subject.

My connection speed, despite being reasonable (30mb), is very slow when it comes to MT5, crashing orders and charts. Would a VPS solve this problem so I can make manual trades, or would it only be suitable for automated trading?
