New article Why virtual hosting with MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5 is superior to traditional VPS (virtual private servers):
Author: MetaQuotes Software Corp.
hi, how is it with a mt4 vps...there is also a vps for rent at brokers. only there the broker could see exactly what is happening there! is it different with you...i.e. i am "independent" from my broker?
looking forward to feedback....
1) It is not appreciated if you ask the same question more than once (double posting)!
2) Your question would require a very comprehensive answer - which you probably won't get here.
You'll have to google vps and manage vps and security and access and ...
Where can I turn? I wanted to stop hosting for the weekend, so 3 hours already stopped, it seems to be frozen.
What build of the terminal do you have? Try to update the terminal by connecting to the MetaQuotes-Demo trading server.
You can stop hosting from your MQL5 account (account - "Hosting" - and select the "Stop" command on the required hosting).
Hello. I have a principle of the robot is that it is necessary to work 2 terminals at the same time, is there such an opportunity for both terminals to work together?
No, even if you create two hosts from two logins, they will not see each other. Because you rent a terminal, not a VPS or a viral machine.
You can't upload files wherever you want, install your own system, etc. like on a VPS.
You are only given the opportunity to use the terminal around the clock without worrying about the availability of uninterrupted Internet and actually not worrying that the machine will fall.
By the way, I also consider the possibility to set up everything at your place and then migrate it. It's easier and clearer than having to go somewhere on the UPU to configure the terminal for yourself.
Nice
Carl it is not a VPS in the conventional sense, just a kind of remote control for an MT4/5
Hello colleagues.
I didn't want to write here, but I have to. I will state the fact - the quality of paid hosting, which is actively advertised here, is below any reasonable limit. Again, I do not like to spread negativity, scandalise, etc. But we are talking about a systematic failure to fulfil elementary obligations on the part of hosting providers, namely:
- constant failures in the work of the service,
- lack of diagnostic tools,
- lack of normal technical support,
- inflexibility and inability to transfer hosting to another server, if I am not satisfied with the work of the current one, without losing money.
In order.
I am registered on the server Amsterdam. It gives a good ping to the alpari server, where I actually trade. However, on the third day of work I started having problems. I noticed this by the absence of open orders, although the EA algorithm should have opened them.
I started to look at the logs. An error like "cannot post message 2,0 [1816], last processed 0 2 2 [187]" permanently appeared in the terminal log. At the same time, the Expert Advisor was hanging intentionally (I made this conclusion by the fact that no alerts were displayed on certain events when they should have been displayed). As I was told in technical support, this error is related to the fact that there are not enough processor resources and the OS messages cannot be processed in time. At the same time, I want to dismiss possible suspicions that I have a crooked EA. It is not crooked, it has very little CPU resources (less than 1% on a laptop), it does not loop. All this has been checked - several months ago, I had several EAs of the same type (at least 6 at the same time) working around the clock, but on different currencies and with different parameters.
I complained several times about the work of the service. The effect is equal to zero.
At the same time the hosting toolkit does not show the CPU load at all (details/processor). The line is at zero. From which I conclude that either the diagnostic tools are not good, or the cause of the error is not what I was told in the service desk.
Tech support is silent.
I don't understand how to transfer hosting to another server without losing money.
Result - looking for other VPS solutions. (By the way, I will be very grateful if you tell me such options).
Bottom line: you can't work like this. You collect money, and the quality is at the level of primitive free hosting. Even if it suddenly turns out that the problem is in the Expert Advisor (although, I repeat, I have not changed its code for half a year already - but I don't know, MT4 platform updates have led to miracles before - there were problems with array sizes, or with something else, I don't remember), it is not clear why there are no decent diagnostic tools to understand what the problem is. Why there is not even an elementary template for contacting Service Desk about hosting problems, and every time you have to invent which topic to shove the address to.

We apologise for the problems.
Unfortunately, we didn't catch the moment when this Amsterdam server was overloaded due to some terminals that were eating up the vast majority of resources and our downgrade system couldn't cope with them. This resulted in blockages for a lot of other terminals that couldn't even send messages.
We have already sorted out the problem, reduced the number of allocated instances, disabled some users, introduced stricter limits on CPU-hungry experts and are expanding the server network.
Free transfer of subscriptions to other servers is already planned and will be implemented soon.
We are trying and growing the hosting service, but sometimes along with growth comes problems like this. Sorry again, please.
