Hi ash04,

Look at this post: https://www.mql5.com/en/forum/177358

as there are a lot of EA were created on parabolic sar.

Try to find something similar with your idea.

Because it is always easier to modify some EA then to create totally new one.

Hi Newdigital

I subscribe elite section and now I am trying find a good EA, but for now I am without succses . Can You please recomend me good EA fo alpari UK broker.

Thanks in advance

berche

It depends on your preferences.

I am suggesting to you to look at excel files for total performance + weekly pips in RAS service.

It is the basic point for any selection.

Yes, it depends on expectation.

For example, StepMAExpert_v1.45 with timefilter, GBPUSD, Alpari broker:

http://www.rentasignal.com/signal/view/519

52 closed trades since July.

So, it depends on preferences.

Because we should know about expecting profit from some kind of system. For example: 100% return in one year for 1 trade per symbol for classical systems - it is real or not?

May be not. And for martingale systems? Real but very risky. And for MTF systems? real but double risky.

I am new in this forum, I want to say congratulations to all the senior members and newdigital for keeping it high quality and for all the work you guys put in developing the systems. It's really awsome.

I have one suggestion about the EA performance measurement, instead of pips to use something that includes risk together with profit. We could use profit factor as this is the best metric MT4 provides (would have been better Sharpe ratio or something similar, but I think PF will do). Pips themelves without considering what you risked to get them doesn't mean anything to me. Unless there is a reason for reporting performance in pips, in this case I would appreciate if someone explained to me the reason.

Thank you and I hope I can contribute something as time goes. Keep up the good work!

Hi challenger78,

There are Profit Factor in the statements (for pips calculation and for dollars calculation as well).

As to Sharpe ...

Sharp Ration telling us about stability (consistently) of the profit. It may be good for portfolio for example (use many EAs on 1 Metatrader's account just to increase consistency of the profit and decrease the risk because of forex market changed all the time).

Read this post: https://www.mql5.com/en/forum/178803/page41

It was the idea to make the portfolio as the simulation in the way as

add 3 EAs' performances all together besed on market condition prediction and in this case - yes: Sharpe can be one of the main index.

But for now (most EAs here are traded by fied lot size with no martingale/hedge and with 1 trade per symbol only) - Sharpe is not indicating anything: when profit is floating from +300 for the first month, -200 for the second month and +500 for the 3rd month - the system is profitable but Sharpe is very low ...

1 dollars as a profit mothly every month for 1 year - and Sharpe will be maimum by value ... but it will be just 1 dollars only

Just an example.

It is good for portfolio but it indicating nothing if we are using 1 system/EA for the account (for forex only).

Hi newdigital,

thanks for the reply. I know there is PF in the statements, I was just saying it would be helful to see it in the summary as well to save us time, instead of having to open each file separately. But it's OK, it is not necessary, it was just a suggestion.

Now about SR, I agree with you that it is most useful in the portfolio, but it is also useful considering each system, because it is easier to make a portfolio with good SR when you start with a set of systems that already have good SR.

Finally, I want to add that SR is not perfect, there are papers on the internet about its weaknesses. However, it does show not only the consistency of the system/portfolio, but also the profit (as it appears in the numerator of the calculation of SR). So a very consistent system with very low profit like 1 dollar per month will have a very small SR.

The practical use of SR for us traders is the confidence we have in the returns of the system, and so the amount we are prepared to risk in each trade. For example, suppose we have 2 systems with the same profit (returns), but the one of them has a very high SR system, we might feel confident to risk 5 or 10 % per trade on this system, because we know high drawdown is not very likely. But if the other system has very large deviation of returns and therefore low SR, I don't think we will feel confident risking that much, we would probably go for the typical 2% that everyone advises, because in case we are unlucky to trade when the system starts losing, we will probably wipe the account. So risking more money, we can make more profit, it's possible with both systems, but I think psychologically the higher SR would help us feel better in the trade.

BTW if we have another thread regarding performance metrics and risk/reward, please let me know, I didn't see one and I believe it is very important part of the trading that many people tend to overlook.

Thank you.
