Our Most Tested and Recommended Brokers
Based on our MoonDog testing and the experience reported by users, the brokers I currently recommend are:
- GLOBAL PRIME
- FP MARKETS
- ULTIMA MARKETS
- VT MARKETS
- VANTAGE
These are the brokers with the most practical MoonDog experience behind our current recommendations.
Global Prime remains my main reference broker.
This does not mean every account will produce identical results. Account type, broker entity, server, trading costs and execution conditions can all make a difference.
Important — Do Not Use IC Markets with MoonDog
My current recommendation is clear: do not use IC Markets with MoonDog EA. Please choose another broker for this system.
This recommendation concerns MoonDog and its execution requirements. It is not a claim that every IC Markets account or every other trading strategy will have problems.
For a new MoonDog installation, start by evaluating one of the five brokers listed above.
Why Your Broker Matters
MoonDog trades XAUUSD breakouts using pending orders. During a fast move, the price can change significantly between an order being triggered and its actual execution.
Two people can use the same EA version and settings but receive different results.
Important differences include:
- Spread and commission.
- Entry and exit slippage.
- Available liquidity.
- Pending-order execution.
- Stop Level and Freeze Level restrictions.
- Connection stability and latency.
- XAUUSD contract specifications.
A low advertised spread does not tell you everything. The actual prices received when opening and closing trades matter too.
Even a recommended broker can experience difficult execution during news, gaps or sudden market moves.
Start with a Small Lot
Test your configuration on demo first.
If you decide to move to a live account, use the smallest suitable lot for at least the first week. Use that time to understand MoonDog and review your broker’s execution.
Do not increase your lot just because the first few trades win.
One week is only an initial check. You need a meaningful sample across different trading conditions, and demo execution may differ from live execution.
The market will still be there next week. There is no need to rush your risk.
Use the Slippage Dashboard
Open MoonDog’s Slippage panel to review the recorded execution results.
Pay attention to:
- Repeated adverse entry slippage.
- Repeated adverse exit slippage.
- Occasional unusually poor fills.
- Whether execution problems continue across several trades.
The dashboard is a diagnostic tool, not a guarantee or a complete assessment of a broker.
A losing trade alone does not prove that your broker caused the loss. Likewise, a profitable week does not prove that execution is good.
If you repeatedly see poor execution, keep your risk small and investigate before continuing with larger lots.
If Something Looks Wrong
Please send me:
- Your broker and account type.
- The exact XAUUSD symbol name.
- Your MoonDog version and settings.
- A screenshot of the affected trade.
- The Experts and Journal logs covering the event.
Check that automated trading was enabled and the terminal remained connected.
We need to distinguish between a normal losing trade, an EA setting, a connection problem and an actual rejected or poorly executed request. A trade-history screenshot alone may not show the cause.
If your account consistently provides unsuitable execution after these checks, consider another broker instead of increasing risk to compensate.
A VPS Helps, but It Cannot Fix Everything
A stable VPS can keep MT5 running and may reduce communication delays when located near the broker’s trading server.
It cannot guarantee a particular fill price, create liquidity or override broker trading restrictions.
Keep MT5, MoonDog and automated trading running if you expect the EA’s virtual protection to manage open positions.
If you want to pause new entries, use MoonDog’s Cancel + pause button instead of switching off automated trading while positions still need protection.
What About Other Brokers?
Other brokers may also work well with MoonDog. Some may eventually provide equally good or better conditions.
They are simply not part of my current most-tested recommendation list.
I prefer to update this page using practical MoonDog experience rather than recommend a broker only because it has attractive advertising or a high public rating.
