Microsoft will release the Windows 10 'Creators Update' on April 11th, after which the Windows version will be completely updated.
This update is similar to installing an entirely new operating system, because it will change configurations and encryption keys.
The MetaTrader platform binds all data to an operating system and its hardware to protect user information. This binding means that even if the terminal files are stolen, thieves will not be able to connect to the trading account using previously saved credentials.
Unfortunately, after installation of the Windows 10 Creators Update, all stored MetaTrader passwords will be lost.
We therefore highly recommend that you prepare for this new Windows release by saving your passwords in a safe place (write them down!), so that you will be able to access your accounts after the update completes.
This is especially true of demo accounts, so take a moment to log in to any important demo accounts you might have and copy the account number and password from the registration message on the Mailbox tab.
Remember: Note down your MetaTrader account passwords in a safe place before updating Windows 10.
If you use products from the MetaTrader Market then the change of encryption keys will result in one activation of applications purchased from the MetaTrader Market being lost because all products are bound to the operating system.
To allow easy reactivation of purchased products, MetaQuotes will automatically add one activation to each product you have purchased. If required, Demo versions may be downloaded again from the Market.
