The opposition Labour party is having problems of its own 26 June 2016
In the wake of PM Cameron resigning on Friday, although not stepping down just yet, and calls for finance minister Osborne to follow suit we now have Shadow Government unrest further to that which I posted on yesterday.
Calls for the Labour Party leader Corbyn to stand down have fallen on deaf ears in his camp but now Shadow Foreign Secretary Benn has been sacked after saying he had lost faith in his leader.
Shadow Scotland secretary Ian Murray and shadow minister Gloria de Piero have since said they too will resign while Shadow defence secretary Vernon Coaker has said he will be considering his position. Shadow transport secretary Lillian Greenwood is also expected to resign from the Labour front bench later today.
Speaking on BBC TV Benn said Corbyn ""is a good and decent man but he is not a leader".
"At this absolutely critical time for our country following the EU referendum result, the Labour Party needs strong and effective leadership to hold the government to account.
"We don't currently have that and there is also no confidence we would be able to win a general election as long as Jeremy remains leader. And I felt it was important to say that."
The Brexit fallout continues. I have a feeling I'll be typing that phrase more than a few times over the coming months.
