US ISM Manufacturing (Feb) - Tue 3/1 - 10:00 AM ET

BofAML: The ISM manufacturing index should inch lower in February to 48.0 from 48.2 previously. This would indicate another month of deteriorating manufacturing conditions, amid a still-strong dollar and sluggish global backdrop. We saw both the Empire and Richmond Fed regional surveys head deep into negative territory this month. The Philly Fed index improved modestly but the details showed weakening — the ISMadjusted index declined to 44.7 from 47.5. Considering these developments, we do not anticipate improvement in broad US manufacturing activity.

Barclays: We look for the ISM manufacturing index to slip to 47.5 in the February reading, down from 48.2 in January. Regional indicators suggest further deterioration in manufacturing activity this month. With a negative outlook for output and employment growth in the sector, these readings lead us to expect February’s print to be the weakest on the ISM since 2009.
