1. Overview
XTSFORGE A-VWAP Studio is the MetaTrader 5 indicator name for Anchored VWAP Studio by XTSFORGE.
It is a workflow-focused VWAP and Anchored VWAP indicator for traders who use VWAP structures, session-based reference levels and manually selected anchor points directly on the chart.
The indicator combines:
- Daily, Weekly and Monthly VWAPs
- manually placed Anchored VWAPs
- H/L, standard deviation and dual bands
- right-side labels with collision handling
- alerts
- hotkeys
- settings profiles
- anchor sets
- intraday preset rows
- an integrated chart control panel
- a hidden-object Data Interface for EAs and scripts
- a global-variable Command Interface for external control
The goal is not to replace trader decision-making. The goal is to make VWAP-based chart work faster, cleaner and more controlled.
2. Core Idea
The indicator is built around two VWAP concepts: Periodic VWAPs and manual Anchored VWAPs.
2.1 Periodic VWAPs
Periodic VWAPs reset automatically based on a selected period or session logic. Anchored VWAP Studio supports Daily, Weekly and Monthly VWAPs.
These VWAPs can be used as broader reference levels. For example, a Daily VWAP can help provide intraday context, while Weekly and Monthly VWAPs can provide higher-timeframe context.
2.2 Anchored VWAPs
Anchored VWAPs start from a manually selected chart location. The user chooses the anchor point, and the indicator calculates the VWAP from that point forward.
This allows the user to compare broader reference levels, such as Daily or Weekly VWAP, with specific manually selected anchor points, such as a swing, session start, news candle, impulse candle, breakout or reclaim.
2.3 What This Indicator Does Not Do
The indicator does not generate buy or sell signals by itself.
It also does not:
- predict market direction
- decide where anchors should be placed
- guarantee that a VWAP level will act as support or resistance
- manage positions or orders
- replace risk management
- provide financial advice or personal trading recommendations
Anchors are placed manually by design. This keeps the user in control and avoids automatically creating chart structures that may not match the user's own process.
3. Installation and First Setup
3.1 Installing from the MQL5 Market
Install the indicator through the MQL5 Market in the MetaTrader 5 desktop terminal.
After installation, open the desired chart and attach XTSFORGE A-VWAP Studio from the Navigator or the Indicators menu.
The indicator is designed for the MetaTrader 5 desktop terminal. The MetaTrader 5 mobile apps can be used for account monitoring and mobile notifications, but this custom indicator is not designed to run directly inside the mobile app.
3.2 Adding the Indicator to a Chart
When the indicator is attached, the integrated control panel appears if the selected control mode shows the integrated UI.
If the panel is not visible, check:
- the selected control mode
- whether Clean Screenshot Mode is active
- whether the chart is large enough for the chosen UI position
- whether the panel was minimized
3.3 Required MetaTrader Settings for Alerts
Terminal alerts work inside MetaTrader 5.
Push notifications require MetaTrader 5 mobile notification settings to be configured in the terminal.
Email alerts require MetaTrader 5 email settings to be configured in the terminal.
The indicator can request push or email delivery, but MetaTrader must be configured correctly for these channels.
4. Recommended First-Time Inputs
For a normal first setup, most users do not need to change the indicator inputs. The default input settings are intended to provide a practical starting point with the integrated chart UI enabled.
The table below explains the most important first-time settings in user-facing terms. Names in the MetaTrader input window may be shown slightly differently depending on the input dialog and enum display.
| Setting | Recommended value | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Control Mode | Integrated UI | Shows the integrated chart control panel. |
| Data Interface Mode | Off | Keeps public data publishing disabled unless EA or script access is needed. |
| Volume Mode | Auto | Automatically selects an available volume source. |
| Maximum Anchors | 10 | Starts with a controlled number of active anchor slots. |
| Anchor Persistence Mode | Full | Allows anchors to survive reloads and terminal restarts under the selected namespace. |
| Anchor State ID / Namespace | shared | Default storage name for full anchor persistence. |
| Anchor Markers Locked at Start | true / enabled | Prevents accidental anchor movement after loading the indicator. |
| Live Drag Preview | true / enabled | Updates Anchored VWAPs while moving anchor markers. |
| Hotkeys | true / enabled | Enables keyboard workflow when the integrated UI is visible. |
A practical first workflow is:
- start with the default inputs unless you already know which workflow you want to change
- use the Integrated UI control mode for normal chart operation
- keep the Data Interface disabled unless you need EA or script access
- start with Daily VWAP and a small number of Anchored VWAPs
- keep anchor marker lock enabled during normal work
- enable bands only on the VWAP structures that matter
- keep right-side labels enabled only where they improve readability
- use Settings Profiles once you have a stable layout
- use Anchor Sets only for symbol-specific anchor collections that you want to reuse
5. Enable Daily, Weekly and Monthly VWAPs
Use the Daily, Weekly and Monthly controls in the integrated panel.
A highlighted button means the corresponding VWAP is enabled. A neutral button means it is disabled.
For a clean first chart, start with:
- Daily VWAP: enabled
- Weekly VWAP: enabled only if higher-timeframe context is useful
- Monthly VWAP: optional, especially on very short-term charts
- Daily history: current day or a small number of days
- Daily bands: disabled at first, then enabled only if needed
Weekly and Monthly VWAPs can help provide broader reference levels, but they may not be necessary on every intraday chart.
6. Set Your First Anchored VWAP
To place your first Anchored VWAP:
- Click ADD in the integrated panel, or use the configured Add Anchor shortcut if hotkeys are enabled.
- Move the mouse to the desired bar on the chart.
- Click the bar where the anchor should start.
The selected bar becomes the anchor point, and the indicator draws an Anchored VWAP from that point forward.
If the maximum active anchor count has been reached, the indicator shows a warning and does not create another anchor.
Common anchor locations include:
- swing highs
- swing lows
- session starts
- market opens
- news candles
- impulse candles
- breakouts
- reclaims
The indicator does not decide where anchors should be placed. Anchor selection is part of the user's own chart workflow.
7. Select and Edit an Anchor
Use the anchor selector buttons to move between:
- NEW
- A1
- A2
- other active anchor slots
NEW edits the preset used by the next manually created anchor. Existing anchor slots edit the selected anchor.
| Selection | Meaning |
|---|---|
| NEW | Changes the preset for the next anchor that will be created. |
| A1, A2, ... | Changes the selected existing anchor slot. |
If the selected anchor becomes unavailable, the selector safely falls back to NEW.
8. Change Color, Band Mode and Label Mode
For the selected anchor or NEW, the panel allows you to:
- change color
- cycle band mode
- cycle label mode
- enter custom label text when the label mode supports custom text
- toggle selected anchor visibility
8.1 Band Modes
| Mode | Meaning |
|---|---|
| OFF | No bands are shown for the selected anchor. |
| H/L | Weighted high/low bands are shown. |
| StdDev | Weighted standard deviation bands are shown. |
| Dual | H/L and standard deviation bands are shown together. |
8.2 Label Modes
| Mode | Meaning |
|---|---|
| OFF | No right-side label. |
| # | Anchor number only. |
| P | Price only. |
| # + P | Anchor number and price. |
| C | Custom text only. |
| C + P | Custom text and price. |
Custom label text is useful for labels such as London Open, NY Open, CPI Candle, Session Low or Breakout.
9. Move and Lock Anchor Markers
Anchor markers can be dragged when the global anchor marker lock is disabled. Use the panel control or the configured shortcut if you use hotkeys for this workflow.
The marker lock should normally remain enabled to avoid accidental anchor movement. Unlock it only when you intentionally want to move an anchor.
If live drag preview is enabled, Anchored VWAPs are recalculated while an anchor marker is being moved. A lower live-preview interval can feel more responsive but can cost more performance on heavy charts.
10. Enable Alerts
Use the Alerts button to enable or disable alert processing globally. If a hotkey is configured for this action, it can be used as an alternative.
Detailed alert settings are configured in the integrated Settings window under Alerts.
The Alert setup is active only when:
- alerts are enabled
- at least one delivery channel is enabled and configured
- at least one target is enabled
- at least one trigger type is enabled
Supported alert channels are:
- Terminal
- Push
Push and email require MetaTrader 5 terminal configuration.
Supported alert targets include:
- Daily VWAP main line
- Weekly VWAP main line
- Monthly VWAP main line
- Anchored VWAP main lines
- Daily VWAP bands
- Anchored VWAP bands
Hidden Anchored VWAPs do not trigger Anchored VWAP alerts.
11. Use Clean Screenshot Mode
Clean Screenshot Mode temporarily hides the integrated UI, the Settings window and the status panel for a cleaner chart view. It can be activated from the panel or through the configured shortcut if hotkeys are enabled.
VWAP lines, right-side labels and anchor markers remain visible according to their current visibility settings.
A small restore button is shown while the mode is active.
This mode is useful when you want to review the chart, create a cleaner screenshot or document a chart state without the main control panel covering part of the chart.
12. Save and Restore Your Workspace
Anchored VWAP Studio provides several ways to preserve or reuse your workspace.
12.1 Settings Profiles
Use Settings Profiles for indicator settings and preset rows that are managed inside Anchored VWAP Studio.
Profiles can save settings such as UI theme, line styles, label settings, alert settings and intraday preset rows. They are separate from MetaTrader's built-in input presets. MT5 input presets are saved and loaded through the standard indicator input window, while Settings Profiles are managed from the indicator's on-chart Settings window.
12.2 Anchor Sets
Use Anchor Sets for symbol-specific groups of anchors.
Anchor Sets are useful when you want to save and reuse concrete anchor collections for a symbol, especially for longer-lived chart contexts, swing-trading style layouts or higher-timeframe review work. For fast intraday workflows, automatic persistence or Intraday Presets may often be more practical.
12.3 Anchor Persistence
Use Anchor Persistence for automatic workspace restoration across reloads or restarts.
Full persistence is recommended for important workspaces. The namespace is simply the storage name used for saved anchors. The default namespace is shared. If you use the same symbol and the same namespace again, the indicator can restore the same saved anchors. Use a different namespace if you want to keep separate anchor workspaces.
| Feature | Use it for |
|---|---|
| MT5 input presets | Built-in MetaTrader input templates for the indicator input window. |
| Settings Profiles | Indicator settings, themes, visual settings, alerts and preset rows managed from the on-chart Settings window. |
| Anchor Sets | Symbol-specific groups of manually placed anchors. |
| Anchor Persistence | Automatic restoration of the current chart workspace. |
13. First Troubleshooting Checklist
13.1 The Control Panel Is Not Visible
Possible causes:
- Control Mode is set to Bridge-only instead of an integrated UI mode
- Clean Screenshot Mode is active; use the restore button or the configured shortcut to return
- the panel is minimized
- the chart is too small for the selected UI position
- the UI is outside the visible chart area after layout changes
13.2 No VWAP Is Visible
Check:
- the relevant VWAP is enabled
- line color is visible against the chart background
- enough historical data is loaded
- the symbol provides usable volume data
- the VWAP is not hidden by settings or visibility controls
13.3 Anchors Disappear After Restart
Check:
- Anchor Persistence Mode is set to Full
- the same symbol is used
- the same Anchor State ID / namespace is used; the default is shared
- the anchor state was saved before shutdown or reload
13.4 I Cannot Move Anchor Markers
Anchor marker lock is probably enabled.
Disable the lock before dragging anchor markers.
13.5 ADD Does Not Create Another Anchor
The maximum active anchor count may have been reached.
Delete an existing anchor or increase the Maximum Anchors input within the supported range of 1 to 20.
13.6 Alerts Do Not Fire
Check:
- Alerts are enabled
- at least one delivery channel is enabled and configured
- at least one target is enabled
- at least one trigger type is enabled
- the relevant VWAP or band is visible
- cooldown and once-per-bar are not suppressing repeated alerts
- hidden Anchored VWAPs are not expected to alert
