FVG — finds price gaps on the chart and scores each one for quality.
Scoring — four axes, each with its own set of points:
Displacement — the strength of the impulse candle: the share of the body in its range, the size relative to ATR, the agreement of the neighbouring candles. The «dirty impulse» filter takes points away if the wicks reach into the gap deeper than a third of its height.
Volume — the volume spike against the average of the 20 preceding bars. The thresholds are not taken out of thin air but from the history of the instrument itself: the top 5, 15, 35 and 60 percent of its spikes. «Twice the average» on quiet forex and «twice the average» on crypto are different events, and a zone has to be compared with what actually happens on that symbol. Plus points for volume rising three candles in a row.
Context — where the zone lies in the local range relative to its midpoint, and whether a liquidity sweep came before it.
Structure — the position relative to EMA 50 and the break of the last extreme. Strict mode requires a close by the body.
The grade is set by thresholds, not by the sum of the points. A — Displacement, Volume and Structure have met the threshold, and a liquidity sweep came before the zone. B — the same three axes, but there was no sweep. C — Displacement and Volume on the soft threshold. Everything else is D.
If the symbol has no volume — with some brokers the tick volume on CFDs barely changes from candle to candle — the indicator recognises this by itself and computes the grade on three axes, without volume. Context takes its place in the pair. A warning line is written to the journal at load time.
The panel in the top right corner: four Grade buttons show and hide their zones, HISTORIC raises the already mitigated ones from history, «−» collapses the panel. In the left corner are the counters for each Grade.
Chart theme — the indicator can repaint the chart in its own palette: background, candles, bar outlines, Bid and Ask lines, grid. Off by default: someone else’s chart is not touched without being asked. The previous colours are remembered and restored when the indicator is removed or the checkbox is cleared.
Alert: The drop-down list of Grades: A only, A and B, all grades. The sound file is taken from the Sounds folder of the terminal. The window and the sound are different things. The MT5 popup window sounds by itself. The separate sound checkbox is for when the window gets in the way: there is a sound and no window. The message text starts with the symbol and the timeframe — in the window you can see where it came from anyway, in an e-mail and in a Push you cannot. E-mail and Push require the settings of the terminal itself: «Tools — Options — Email» and «Notifications» with the MetaQuotes ID. Without them the checkboxes give nothing, the terminal will simply write a sending error into the journal.
