Gold Weekly Lines builds support and resistance lines once a week from monthly, weekly, daily and H1 levels, scores each line by how many sources agree, and trades each strength tier with its own logic: fake-break reversal on weak lines, confirmed break on medium lines and immediate break on strong lines. Every trade has a stop loss and exits by an ATR trailing stop.
How the lines are built
At the start of each week the Expert Advisor collects price levels from closed bars only:
- previous week high and low, previous month high and low,
- weekly, daily and H1 swing highs and lows,
- weekly pivot, R1 and S1, and nearby round numbers.
Levels that lie close together (within a fraction of the daily ATR) are merged into one line. The strength of a line is the weighted number of sources that agree on it. The lines are drawn on the chart: grey dotted = weak, gold = medium, red = strong.
How each tier trades (H4 by default)
- Weak lines: weak lines are often broken and then rejected. After an H4 close beyond a weak line, the EA watches up to 8 bars. If price closes back on the other side, it treats the break as a fake and trades the opposite way. Stop loss beyond the extreme of the fake break.
- Medium lines: the EA waits until a break has held for 3 H4 bars without closing back. Only a confirmed break is traded.
- Strong lines: an H4 close beyond a strong line is traded immediately in the break direction.
Trade management
- Stop loss from the moment the trade opens.
- ATR trailing stop (8 x ATR of the signal timeframe by default). It never moves back. Optionally it tightens as price approaches the next line.
- No take profit, no grid, no martingale, no averaging. At most one position per tier (three in total).
- Trades are few (about 20 per year on Gold) and are typically held from several days to several weeks.
Important: holding costs
Positions are held for days or weeks, so overnight swap is a real cost. In our tests swap took a significant share of the gross profit. Check your broker's swap for Gold and include it when you evaluate the EA.
Recommendations
- Symbol: XAUUSD (Gold). The logic is ATR-based and can run on other symbols, but it was designed and studied on Gold.
- Chart timeframe: any. Signal timeframe is set per tier in the inputs (H4 by default).
- Strategy Tester: "Every tick based on real ticks" or "1 minute OHLC", at least two years so that weekly swings exist.
- Use a small fixed lot or a low risk percent. With the wide trailing stop a single loss can be large compared with the lot size.
- Test on a demo account before live use.
Main inputs
- Money management: fixed lot or risk percent, maximum spread.
- Lines: minimum strength for targets, round number step, weekly bias threshold.
- For each tier (weak, medium, strong): on/off, magic number, strength range, signal timeframe, logic (break, bounce, fake-break reversal, confirmed break), direction filter, trailing width, break size, bars to watch, stop loss buffer.
