Why DayLock

Most funded accounts are not lost on strategy. They are lost on one bad day: a revenge trade after a loss, a forgotten stop-loss, slippage on news, or a reset at a different hour than you thought. The firm checks its daily limit on equity, including floating losses, commission and swap, and one touch can end the account. DayLock watches the whole account and acts before that line.

  • Set up like your firm's rules. Pick FTMO, FundedNext, The5ers, FundingPips, E8 Markets, Alpha Capital or Maven: the day-start level (balance, equity or the higher of both), the reset time and the max-loss type are filled in. Where a firm's rule is unclear, the preset takes the stricter reading.
  • The firm's own clock. Midnight Prague, server midnight, UTC or 5 PM New York, with the daylight-saving rules of Europe and the US, or any hour you set.
  • A lock you cannot talk yourself out of. Tighter settings apply at once. Looser settings, including a switch to a firm with wider limits, start at the next reset once you have traded that day. Removing and re-attaching DayLock keeps today's lock.
  • Know the size before you trade. The lot calculator shows how many lots fit for your stop-loss on the chart symbol while staying above today's hard-stop, even if every open trade also hits its stop.
  • Looks ahead. The exposure gate closes a new trade when all your stop-losses together could pass the hard-stop.
  • Stops revenge trading. Cooldown after a loss, a maximum number of trades per day, a stop after a losing streak and a Lock day button.

1. The hard-stop

  • A safety buffer (default 20% of the limit) keeps DayLock's stop above the firm's line, to absorb slippage on the close
  • At the hard-stop DayLock closes every position and deletes every pending order on the account, of all symbols, manual and from every EA, and re-sends until all are closed (large positions in parts)
  • For the daily limit and the max loss: static, trailing on the end-of-day balance (rebuilt from your history), or trailing on the highest equity, with or without a stop at the starting size
  • Firm rules on the floating loss of all open positions together (FundingPips Zero) are guarded as well
  • Optional: lock in a good day at a set profit, or close and lock when the profit target of the phase is reached
  • Firms without a daily limit: set the daily loss to "none" and only the max loss counts

2. Locked until the firm's reset

After the hard-stop every new trade is closed straight away and new pending orders are removed, until the firm starts a new day. The lock survives a restart of MetaTrader and removing and re-attaching DayLock. A soft lock (no new trades, open positions stay protected by the hard-stop) is used for the trade limit, the losing streak and the Lock day button. The panel shows when trading opens again, in server time and in your own time.

3. Presets: a starting point you control

FTMO 2-Step and 1-Step · FundedNext Stellar 2-Step, 1-Step and Lite · The5ers High Stakes and Pro Growth · FundingPips 2-Step Standard, Flex, Pro and Zero · E8 One · Alpha Capital Alpha Pro 10%, Pro 8% and Alpha One · Maven 1-, 2- and 3-Step. Each preset shows the date it was checked; presets marked verify contain details the firm does not publish in full.

Firms change their rules, so every value can be adjusted on the Rules tab (the preset is then shown as "adjusted"). Trading with a firm that is not listed? Click + Add a firm, type its name, set its rules and press Save & use: it is kept under Your firms on every terminal and account.

4. More guards

  • Exposure gate: sees where all stop-losses together would take your equity; a new trade that would pass the hard-stop is closed, later changes give a warning
  • Lot calculator: the largest position on the chart symbol for a stop-loss of N pips that keeps you above today's hard-stop, even if every open trade also hits its stop (spread included)
  • Trade rules: stop-loss required (with a short grace period), max risk per trade at the stop-loss, max lots per order (a split fill counts as one order)
  • High-impact news from the MT5 calendar: a warning 15 minutes ahead, or also closing affected positions just before the window (never inside it); the firm's own window is used as a minimum
  • Weekend: close everything on Friday at a server time you choose
  • Monitor only: alerts and log, nothing is closed. Run it next to your firm's dashboard first

5. One clear panel

  • Room left today in money, the equity ladder (firm limit, hard-stop, day start, now) and the time to the reset
  • Challenge progress: profit target, trading or profitable days, best-day share
  • One Apply button that says what it will do: Use now, Schedule, or Save & use
  • Minimised to its header it still shows the room left and the time to reset
  • Pop-up, sound and push to your phone; a daily log and a journal (CSV) of every trading day
  • Seven themes, resizable window, tooltips everywhere

Works well with EA Sentinel, Pentad, Panoptic and ChronoReplay

DayLock guards the account against your prop firm's rules, built first for manual traders. EA Sentinel Guard Pro scores and guards every robot on the account separately. ChronoReplay lets you practise a challenge on history before you pay for one. Pentad Multi Strategy EA and Panoptic Market Dashboard trade and read the markets. Separate products; each works on its own.

Up and running in three steps

  1. Drag DayLock onto one chart of your prop-firm account and switch on Algo Trading. Run DayLock on one terminal per account at a time (not at home and on a VPS together).
  2. Open the Rules tab: select your firm and program (or add your own firm), the account size and the phase, then press the button bottom right. On the first start you have 30 minutes to choose freely.
  3. Compare once: check the day-start level, the firm limit and the reset time against your firm's dashboard. Run a day in Monitor only if you like.

Specifications

  • Type: Expert Advisor used as a risk-management utility; never opens a trade and never changes a stop-loss or take-profit
  • Platform: MetaTrader 5 desktop; hedging and netting accounts
  • Scope: all positions and orders on the account, manual and from any EA, every symbol
  • Data: your account, your broker's prices and MetaTrader's economic calendar; no DLLs and no web requests. Push notifications are sent through MetaQuotes' service, like any MT5 notification
  • Files: settings, daily log and journal.csv in MQL5\Files\DayLock; your own firms in the common Files folder
  • Language: English interface and quick start

Good to know

  • Your firm's EA policy. DayLock is not a trading robot, but it runs as an Expert Advisor and closes positions. Some firms restrict EAs: Maven does not allow them, Alpha Capital asks you to send an EA for approval. Check your firm's rules or ask its support first.
  • An EA that keeps opening trades during a lock is closed every time; after 4 blocks within 10 seconds DayLock raises an alarm to stop that EA or switch off Algo Trading, because repeated open-and-close costs spread and a firm may flag it.
  • No guard can promise a price. Closing takes a moment and markets can gap (weekly open, news). That is what the buffer is for.
  • MetaTrader does not let a Market product switch Algo Trading off, so a blocked trade is opened by the terminal and then closed by DayLock. That costs spread and commission each time.
  • DayLock protects only while MetaTrader runs with Algo Trading on. A VPS is best for trades held while you are away. Today's state is also kept in the common Files folder, so another terminal on the same PC keeps the lock; a different PC or VPS starts without it.
  • Attached in the middle of the day, DayLock rebuilds the day-start balance from your history; equity at the reset is estimated on the strict side and shown as such. You can type the day-start level from your firm's dashboard (only a higher, stricter value is used). Trailing on the end-of-day balance is rebuilt from your history; equity peaks before DayLock ran are unknown: enter the peak from your dashboard for trailing-equity programs.
  • Presets are a starting point with the rules as published on the date shown. You are responsible for using your firm's current rules. DayLock is not affiliated with or endorsed by any prop firm.
  • MetaTrader 5 only. The economic calendar is not available in the Strategy Tester.

Important

DayLock is a risk-management tool. It helps you stay inside the rules you set; it does not guarantee that you pass a challenge or keep an account, and it is not investment advice. Trading leveraged products carries a high risk of losing money. Questions are answered in the comments and private messages on this site.
