Stormbreaker ADX is a MetaTrader 5 Expert Advisor that combines Supertrend direction with ADX trend-strength and DMI confirmation. It checks for trading conditions once per new signal-timeframe bar and evaluates the last completed candle.
The EA uses Supertrend, calculated with ATR, to determine the market direction. Before opening a trade, it checks that ADX meets the entry threshold and confirms direction with the DMI values:
- Buy: Supertrend is bullish, ADX is at or above the entry threshold, and +DI is above −DI.
- Sell: Supertrend is bearish, ADX is at or above the entry threshold, and −DI is above +DI.
An ATR-based stop loss is placed using the previous completed signal candle as its reference. Position volume is calculated against a fixed risk target of 0.5% of current equity, subject to the broker’s volume limits and available margin. If the minimum allowed volume would exceed the calculated risk budget, or margin is insufficient, the EA skips the trade.
A position may close when ADX falls below the exit threshold, Supertrend reverses, or the stop loss is reached. The EA does not use a fixed take-profit target, grid trading, martingale or averaging down.
Default settings
- Signal timeframe: H4
- Supertrend: ATR period 10, factor 3.0
- ADX/DMI period: 14
- Entry ADX: 23
- Exit ADX: 18
- Stop distance: 2 × ATR
- Buy and sell trading: enabled by default; either direction can be disabled
The EA operates on the chart symbol. Signal timeframe and trading parameters can be adjusted in the settings. The supplied backtest examples use XAGUSD on H4. Results may differ with other symbols, brokers, account conditions and historical data.
Risk and testing
The 0.5% setting is a calculated risk target, not a guaranteed maximum loss. Gaps, slippage, spreads, commissions, swaps and execution conditions may affect the final result. Test the EA in the Strategy Tester and on a demo account with your broker’s symbol specifications before considering live use.
Historical and simulated results do not guarantee future performance. Automated trading involves risk, and users are responsible for selecting suitable settings and monitoring their accounts.
