Ghost Point is an automated trading system built for short holding periods on GOLD. It does not use indicators as entry signals. Instead, it tracks the structure of price itself — where the market has turned, where it has broken, and where it has left an imbalance behind — and engages only when a defined structural condition is met.
The system runs several detection routines in parallel. Each one watches for a different kind of structural event. When one of them confirms, the engagement logic decides whether to act immediately or wait for price to return to the level before entering. Signals that never return within the allowed window are discarded rather than chased.
Every position carries a protective stop from the moment it opens. Position size is set by the trader, and a hard ceiling limits how far any single stop can be placed, measured both in volatility terms and in the account's own currency. This ceiling applies to every risk mode, so a wide structural level cannot silently produce an oversized loss.
An on-chart panel shows the current system state, the account, open exposure, the daily limiters, and the trading environment.
What it does
- Reads market structure from price action, without indicator-based entries
- Runs multiple detection routines in parallel across the same chart
- Adapts engagement timing: strong breaks fire immediately, weaker ones wait for a retracement
- Applies a protective stop to every position at the moment of entry
- Caps the maximum loss per position, in volatility terms and in account currency
- Halts for the day when the drawdown limit or the trade count limit is reached
- Skips periods outside the configured trading session
- Skips entries when the spread is above the configured ceiling
- Enforces a minimum reward-to-risk ratio before any position is opened
Risk management
Ghost Point applies four independent layers of control:
- Per-position stop. Every trade is opened with a stop loss. There is no mode in which a position is left unprotected.
- Maximum stop distance. A hard ceiling limits the distance of the protective stop, expressed as a multiple of current volatility and as a maximum amount per 0.01 lot in the account's own currency. Whichever is tighter applies.
- Daily limiters. Trading halts for the remainder of the day once either the drawdown percentage or the trade count reaches its configured limit.
- Environment filters. Entries are blocked outside the trading session, when the spread is too wide, and when the reward-to-risk ratio of the proposed trade falls below the configured minimum.
No grid. No martingale. No averaging into losing positions. No recovery multipliers.
Trade management
Positions can be managed with break-even movement, partial closing, and a trailing stop. Each of these can be enabled or disabled independently. There is also an option to close an open position when an opposing structural signal appears.
Parameters
Parameters are grouped for clarity:
- General — trading switch, magic number, slippage
- Lot Size — volume, concurrent positions, maximum positions per direction
- Risk Management — risk mode (structure, fixed distance, or volatility based), stop and target distances, buffers, and the maximum-risk ceilings
- Trade Management — break-even, partial close, trailing stop, close on opposing signal
- Daily Risk Limits — maximum daily drawdown percentage and maximum trades per day
- Adaptive Entry — engagement sensitivity, re-entry tolerance, and how long a queued signal remains valid
- Session Filter — trading window start and end, and whether to close positions at session end
- Spread Filter — maximum acceptable spread
- Signal Quality — minimum reward-to-risk ratio
- Debug — verbose logging for diagnostics
Recommended use
- Symbol: gold
- Timeframes: M1, M5 and M15
- Account type: an account with competitive gold spreads
- Platform: a virtual private server is recommended for uninterrupted operation
- Deposit: the system does not enforce a minimum deposit. Choose a lot size and a maximum risk amount that suit the size of the account you intend to run.
The default settings are a starting point, not a recommendation for every account or every broker. Spreads, contract size and tick value differ between brokers. Test in the Strategy Tester on your own broker's data and adjust the lot size and maximum risk amount before running the system on a live account.
