Strategy Tester note

Power Candles does work in the Strategy Tester.

The key requirement is the Market Watch inside the Strategy Tester.

If the Market Watch on the left side of the Strategy Tester window is fully populated with symbols, the strength calculations work correctly and Power Candles behaves exactly as expected.

If the Market Watch contains only the tested symbol, the embedded strength logic does not receive sufficient cross-symbol data and delta/strength values remain neutral.

So please make sure that the Strategy Tester Market Watch is populated with symbols, not just a single one.

With this setup, Power Candles works correctly in the tester, as shown in the screenshot below.

On live and demo charts, this is not an issue.

Why I took this trade – and why Power Candles matters

1. The initial signal came from Smart Stop, indicating a tight stop-loss zone. That’s usually where market transitions start and where it makes sense to analyze the chart in detail.

2. On the chart, Power Candles clearly showed the end of the previous bearish phase. Red candles faded into a neutral grey phase, signaling that selling pressure was losing control.

3. After a sustained neutral phase, the candles gradually turned green. This is the critical moment where new strength starts to build, confirmed directly in price, not guessed.

4. I deliberately enter at this transition phase because Power Candles makes these high-quality entry zones visible immediately.

Power Candles turns strength analysis into something you can read directly from the price chart.

A user asked about the tools used in my posted screenshots and here's my reply:

The setup shown in the screenshot is a structured workflow built from several tools that each have a clear role.

Central Chart

Indicators used in this trading system:

1. FX Power

Used to identify the directional bias and trend strength based on currency strength. This decides what to trade and in which direction.

2. Power Candles

A visual trend and momentum layer that combines FX Power logic with price structure.

👉 Makes trend continuation and pullback phases instantly readable

👉 Helps stay aligned with strong trends without overloading the chart

👉 Acts as a visual confirmation tool

3. FX Levels

Used for Support & Resistance analysis.

👉 If key S/R is too close to the entry, the trade is avoided.

👉 Levels can also be used as profit targets.

4. FX Dynamic

Used as a volatility and ATR filter.

👉 Helps avoid trades that have already moved too far.

👉 ATR-based levels can also serve as realistic intraday profit targets.

5. Smart Stop Indicator

Calculates market-structure-based stop levels and shows ADR-normalized risk.

This defines where risk is valid instead of guessing stops.

6. EasyTrade

Used for execution and trade management (entries, basket close, SL handling, etc.).

It does not generate signals, it executes decisions cleanly.

How it works together:

• FX Power answers direction

• FX Levels answer is there enough space

• FX Dynamic answers does the move still have potential

• Smart Stop answers where risk belongs

• EasyTrade handles execution

This keeps the system rule-based, selective, and risk-controlled, rather than signal-driven.

Hi,

thanks for your purchase 👍

Power Candles does not require any additional setup.

If nothing shows up right after loading, this is usually related to missing or not yet initialized market data.

Please try the following quick steps:

  1. Switch the chart timeframe once or twice (for example M5 → M15 → back)
  2. Alternatively, change the symbol briefly and switch back
  3. Make sure the Market Watch is populated with symbols and not empty

This forces MetaTrader to load and refresh the required history data, after which Power Candles should display correctly.

If it still doesn’t show up after that, please let me know which symbol and timeframe you are using.

Best regards,

Daniel

It is as I said: It‘s an issue with your terminals market data.

So please follow the steps above and it will work.

Important note on Power Candles setup

Power Candles works independently from the chart timeframe.

The selected analysis period defines how much historical data is used to calculate strength, not the candle size of the chart.

For example:

  • A 1-hour analysis only evaluates the last 1 hour of data

  • An 8-hour analysis evaluates the last 8 hours of data and provides much more stable signals

That’s why:

  • On M5 charts, an analysis period of 8 hours is recommended

  • On H1 charts, at least 1 day should be used

Using very short analysis periods on low timeframes can lead to noisy or unclear results.

Once the analysis period is clearly larger than the chart timeframe, Power Candles shows its full strength.

Hi Boikanyo,

thanks for reporting this. Just to clarify first:

  • Power Candles is delivered as a compiled indicator (.ex5), not as source code.

MetaEditor warnings like “no indicator plot defined” are irrelevant in this case and do not indicate a broken indicator.

Power Candles is working correctly for other users, so this points to a platform-related issue, not a faulty release.

The most common cause is an MT5 beta or unstable build.

Some MT5 builds newer than the last stable release have known graphical issues that prevent indicators from drawing correctly.

Please check the following:

  1. Open MT5 → Help → About

  2. Tell me:

    • MT5 build number

    • Broker name

For reference:

The last stable MT5 build is 5430.

Builds above that have caused similar issues with graphical indicators.

Once I have your build info, I can tell you exactly how to proceed.

Best regards,

Daniel

Hi Daniel, I'm very grateful for your product. I need your help, as the indicator has been having some issues. I'd like to know if it's a configuration problem or something else. Here's the problem: - Problem 1: Sometimes, a green or red arrow appears, then disappears. I reset or refresh the chart, but it doesn't reappear. - Problem 2: There's a discrepancy between the chart on my live account and my demo account. The red or green arrows appear on one chart, but not on the other. Thank you very much for your response and clarification.

Hi Alexis,

thanks for the detailed description, that helps a lot. Both points can be explained quite clearly.

Problem 1 – arrows appear and then disappear

From your screenshot I can see that you are running a MetaTrader 5 beta build. This is a known issue in the recent beta versions where chart objects (including arrows) are not rendered reliably and may disappear after redraws or refreshes.

This does not happen on the latest official MT5 release.

The current stable build is 5430. MetaQuotes is already aware of this beta issue and there are long forum threads about it. A fix has been announced, but there is no confirmed release date yet.

If you want a stable workaround right now, my colleague Alain has posted a guide on how to downgrade back to build 5430. You’ll find it here:

https://www.mql5.com/en/forum/502088

Problem 2 – differences between live and demo charts

This can be caused by two things:

  1. If one account is running a beta build and the other a stable build, the same rendering issue can occur.

  2. Even with identical settings, live and demo accounts can receive different market data (history depth, tick feed, liquidity source).

Power Candles always calculates identically, but if the underlying market data differs, the visual result can differ as well.

In short:

  • The indicator logic itself is consistent

  • Differences only come from platform version or data source

I strongly recommend using the official MT5 build for reliable chart behavior.

Best regards,

Daniel

Hi author, I bought this power candle, but the enter arrow isn't showing up . How can I fix this?

Hi, thanks for your message.

This behavior is very likely caused by an MT5 beta build.

Some recent beta builds have known issues with chart objects, which can cause arrows (and other objects) to disappear or not show up correctly. This is not a Power Candles issue.

Please check and fix it like this:

1) Check your MT5 build

  • In MT5, click Help → About

  • Look at the build number in the lower left corner

  • If your build is higher than 5430, you are running a beta build

    Build

2) Fix: downgrade to the last official MT5 build (5430)

This is the reliable solution.

  1. Download the official MT5 build 5430 EXE files from here:

    https://www.mql5.com/en/forum/502088

  2. Close MT5 completely

  3. Copy the downloaded EXE files into your MT5 program folder

    (overwrite existing files if asked)

  4. Start MT5 again

  5. Open Help → About and confirm the build is 5430

Why this happens

Beta builds frequently introduce temporary rendering bugs.

Chart objects like arrows, labels, and panels are especially affected.

Build 5430 is stable and works correctly with Power Candles.

After switching back to the official build, the entry arrows will appear normally.

Best regards,

Daniel

thank you, it works, also i have two more question hope you could answer for me.

The first question is: i bought both smart stop indicator and power candles, which one do i import first, because i have noticed that the second indicator i import seems overwrite the frist one.

The second question is: which time frame does power candle works the best on XAUUSD.

thank you
