Launch price: 99 USD. Next price: 199 USD after the first 10 copies, then +100 USD after every 10 copies, up to a final price of 999 USD.
A patient EA for gold and the Nasdaq 100: it trades only on strong trend days, buys small pullbacks in the trend and closes on small gains. Capped at 10 positions, same lot on every position, no martingale, equity protector on by default.
Gold and Nasdaq together were positive in every year of the 2019-2026 backtests (8 out of 8, 2026 to September), real ticks, fixed lot.
ScoopGate is part of the Gate series, a set of rule-based MetaTrader 5 experts, each built around one clearly explained mechanism.
Wait for the trend day. Then buy the dips.
Most days, gold and the Nasdaq 100 do not offer what ScoopGate looks for, and on those days it does nothing. When the market shows a strong, clean trend over the past hours, ScoopGate enters in the direction of that trend at selected moments of the session, adds at regular steps if the price pulls back, and closes the whole basket together as soon as it shows a small gain above its average price. Then it waits again, sometimes for days.
A patient EA: it does not trade every day
In the 2019-2026 backtests, ScoopGate opened new baskets on about one market day in four. About one week in three passed without any new trade, and pauses of several weeks happen. A strong trend day can bring several baskets in a row. If you want an EA that trades every day, ScoopGate is not that EA.
Not a plain grid: three measured choices
A grid that buys every dip, at any time, eventually meets the day that does not come back. ScoopGate is built on three choices that were tested, not guessed:
- A trend filter before the first order. A new basket opens only when the market has trended clearly in the trade direction over the past hours, with strength and with one side in control. The same grid without this filter lost money on the Nasdaq 100 in both test periods (2018-2022 and 2023-2026) in our tests.
- Selected moments of the session, per market. Each market has its own entry times, tested hour by hour. One entry window that works on gold lost on every stock index tested, so the Nasdaq version does not use it.
- A hard cap on the basket. At most 10 positions, a basket stop scaled to the market's daily volatility, and an equity protector. On 2012-2026 data, the same grid without a cap built baskets of 59 and 68 positions; ScoopGate stops at 10.
Key features
- Two markets: Gold (XAUUSD) and the Nasdaq 100 (NAS100, USTEC, US100, NDX100…). Attach it to the chart: it recognises the market from the symbol name and applies the logic built for it.
- One basket at a time per market, up to 10 positions of the same lot. No martingale, no lot increase after a loss.
- The whole basket closes together, at one price, as soon as it shows a small gain above its average price.
- Equity protector on by default: closes every position of the EA on that market when the floating loss reaches your threshold (fixed amount or % of the balance), then pauses until the next day.
- Basket stop scaled to the market's daily volatility, on every basket.
- Any broker server time: the EA converts the server time itself (GMT+0, GMT+2/+3…).
- Two risk levels: Normal (default) and High (more entries for strong uptrend periods, more risk).
- Lot: fixed, or a lot per balance step (compounding). Holiday pause from 10 December to 20 January.
- On-chart panel: status, account checks, spread, open basket, protector gauge, results, drawdown.
What a capped grid means for your account
- More than 9 baskets in 10 closed in profit in the 2019-2026 backtests (about 1 300 baskets per market); most of the losing ones lost only the overnight swap.
- The real losses come from a few trend reversals that fill the basket: on gold, the protector closed 3 baskets in 2019-2026, about 15 % of the starting balance each with the default settings.
- The protector is what limits the rare basket that does not come back: keep it on and choose a lot for which the protector loss is acceptable to you.
Requirements and recommendations
- MetaTrader 5, hedging account required (several positions on the same symbol).
- A gold and/or Nasdaq 100 symbol, one chart per market, any timeframe.
- Minimum balance: 1 000 USD per market (0.01 lot on gold; on the Nasdaq 0.01 lot with a 10 USD-per-point contract, or 0.1 lot with a 1 USD-per-point contract). Check your broker's contract size in the symbol specification.
- Low spreads help, especially on the Nasdaq. Leverage 1:100 or more. A VPS (the EA only trades while MetaTrader 5 is running).
- Prop-firm accounts: run gold only, at about 0.03 lot per 10 000 USD with the protector at 4.5 % of the account as a fixed amount. With this sizing the 2019-2026 backtest drawdown stays near 7 % and a protector day costs about 4.5 %.
Quick start
- Open a gold chart and/or a Nasdaq 100 chart (any suffix: XAUUSD.i, XAUUSDm, GOLD, NAS100, USTEC…), any timeframe.
- Attach ScoopGate, keep "Market" = Auto, set "Fixed lot size" (0.01 per 1 000 USD on gold) and the protector, enable Algo Trading.
- Check the panel: "Checks" shows Hedging OK and the server time; the first line shows the status.
- Leave it running on a VPS. Several days without a trade are normal: the panel then shows "Watching for a strong trend day".
Settings
- Risk level: Normal / High. Market: Auto (from the symbol name) / Gold / Nasdaq 100. Magic number, Order comment.
- Lot size mode: Fixed lot size / Lot per balance step. Fixed lot size (0.01 per 1 000 USD tested). Lot per balance step and Balance step for compounding.
- Max spread for a new entry (-1 = market default). Pause from 10 Dec to 20 Jan. Stop trading for the day after this closed loss (0 = off).
- Equity protector: Off / Floating loss in % of balance / Floating loss in account currency. Protector threshold (-1 = 15 % on gold, 30 % on the Nasdaq). After the protector fires: next day / after N hours / until restart.
- Display: Show the panel on the chart, Panel corner, Panel font size.
With a fixed lot, set the protector as a fixed amount, scaled to the size you trade: 150 USD per 1 000 USD of account on gold, 300 USD per 1 000 USD on the Nasdaq. The user guide lists ready-made settings for 1 000, 10 000 and 100 000 USD accounts.
Good to know
- Quiet periods are normal: about one active market day in four, and pauses of several weeks. Do not change the settings because the EA is not trading.
- Gold and the Nasdaq are independent: each chart manages its own baskets and its own protector. Running both doubles the activity and the possible loss on the same day.
- Different brokers, different baskets: the target is small, so a few cents of price difference can decide whether a basket closes on time. Results vary from one broker to another.
- Weak years exist: gold alone lost slightly in 2023 (−208 USD per 0.1 lot) and the Nasdaq in 2019 (−375 USD per 0.1 lot-equivalent).
- Regime: the results are much stronger from 2019 onwards, a period of strong and agitated trends. On older minute data, gold was slightly positive before swap over 2009-2018 and the Nasdaq about flat over 2011-2017. The High risk level lost on gold over 2009-2018.
Backtests (Strategy Tester, not live results)
Real ticks, 1 January 2019 to 30 September 2026, 10 000 USD, fixed 0.1 lot (0.1 lot-equivalent on the Nasdaq), risk Normal, equity protector as a fixed amount (1 500 USD gold, 3 000 USD Nasdaq), spread and swap included:
- Gold: +19 204 USD, average +24.8 % per year of the starting balance, largest drawdown 23 % of the starting balance, profit factor 2.28.
- Nasdaq 100: +13 009 USD, average +16.8 % per year, largest drawdown 29 %, profit factor 2.37.
- Both on one account: +32 213 USD, average +41.6 % per year, largest drawdown 29 %. Year by year: 2019 +1 518, 2020 +4 769, 2021 +1 517, 2022 +3 938, 2023 +1 164, 2024 +3 488, 2025 +6 604, 2026 (to September) +9 216 USD.
- Compounding (0.01 lot per 1 000 USD of balance, protector 15 % / 30 % of the balance), 10 000 USD, same period: gold 10 000 → 61 947 USD (+26.5 % per year compounded, largest drawdown 20.9 % of the equity peak); Nasdaq 10 000 → 35 461 USD (+17.7 % per year, largest drawdown 27.3 %).
Drawdowns are a % of the starting balance unless stated. 2025 and 2026 bring a large share of the result (very active gold). Simulated results have limits and do not reflect real execution, slippage or future market conditions.
Risk warning
Trading gold and indices on margin carries a high level of risk and may not be suitable for every investor. A grid strategy holds several positions against the price until the basket recovers or the protection closes it. You can lose part or all of your capital. Past performance, real or simulated, does not guarantee future results.
