Gold rewards breakouts - and punishes fake ones. XAU OctaPivot was built around that single fact.
Instead of chasing every new high or low, it waits for levels that have proven themselves: a pivot only becomes tradable after the market has respected it for 19 to 72 hours (depending on the engine). A stop order waits just before the level. When gold breaks out, the trade is already in. When the breakout fails, the candle-confirmation exit closes the trade within minutes, so a fake-out costs cents instead of a full stop loss.
Eight independent engines run this logic on different horizons - from multi-week levels to intraday pivots - and share one risk budget that you set in percent.

HOW IT WORKS
1. Map confirmed pivots
A high or a low becomes a level only after it has held for a minimum number of hours (19 to 72, depending on the engine) and dominates the bars to its left. Only fresh levels are traded. Old levels that reappear after a break are ignored.
2. Wait with a stop order
A pending stop order is placed just before the level. Stop loss and take profit are sized as a percentage of price, so the system adapts automatically from $1,800 gold to $4,000+ gold. Orders expire and renew automatically while the level is still valid.
3. Candle-confirmation exit (fake-out killer)
If the candle in which the order was filled (M1, then M15) closes back inside the range, the trade is closed immediately. This is the single biggest reason losses stay small.
4. Lock the profit
Break-even with a small lock, trailing stop on the trend engines and a loss-cut take profit on the high win-rate engines.

Trend engines (1-4): Macro Pivot, Swing Breakout, Daily Trend, Momentum Runner - tight stops, large targets, ride the breakout.

HOW TO BACKTEST
Symbol XAUUSD, any timeframe, model "1 minute OHLC" or "Every tick based on real ticks", default settings.
If your broker server is not GMT+2/GMT+3 (New York close), set GMT_Offset Winter/Summer for the NFP filter, and set "No-arm hour" to your broker's daily rollover hour.

FAQ
Does it use grid or martingale? No. Each engine holds at most its own positions, each with a hard stop loss.
Why only gold? The engines are calibrated on XAUUSD volatility and session structure. It runs on other symbols, but it is designed and tested for gold.
Is it prop-firm friendly? Yes - use the Prop Firm preset and keep the daily DD limit below your firm's rule. If your firm does not allow holding over the weekend, set the Friday stop hour (this reduces profit).
Why is my result different from the screenshots? Spread, commission, server time and history quality differ between brokers. Always run the demo on your own broker first.
