Gold Trend Scalper is an expert advisor for XAUUSD (gold) on the 5-minute timeframe, designed for trend-following scalping in the direction of momentum, during the day's highest-liquidity window, when spreads tend to be tightest.
How it works:
The system watches for a cross between a fast EMA (9 periods) and a slow EMA (21 periods) on M5. When the fast EMA crosses above the slow one and RSI confirms it is above its midline (bullish momentum), it opens a market buy; when it crosses below and RSI is below its midline, it opens a market sell. An ADX filter avoids trading in markets without a clear trend (ranging conditions), and it can optionally require RSI on higher timeframes (M15 and H1 by default) to confirm the same direction, so it does not trade against the broader context. The system only looks for signals inside a configurable high-liquidity session window (by default, the London/New York overlap) and skips any trade if the current spread exceeds the maximum allowed. Optionally, it can avoid trading near high-impact USD economic news events using the terminal's built-in economic calendar.
Risk management:
Risk per trade is set as a fixed amount (RiskUSD) in your account currency, not a percentage. The default values are deliberately small and conservative (safe on any account size) — IMPORTANT: before trading live, raise RiskUSD to match your own capital and risk tolerance; with the factory defaults the bot will trade, but at a minimal risk level. The stop loss is sized to current volatility (distance = ATR x a configurable factor), and the take profit is independent of the stop loss (also ATR-based, with its own factor) - it is not tied to a fixed 1:1 ratio. A trailing stop can optionally be enabled: once floating profit reaches the configured ActivationUSD amount, the stop is moved to lock in that gain and then trails price from there.
Configurable parameters:
- Fast/slow EMA periods and RSI period, plus its confirmation midline
- ADX period and minimum level (trend/ranging filter)
- Higher-timeframe RSI confirmation (toggle, with configurable periods)
- High-liquidity session window to trade in (server time)
- Maximum spread allowed to open a trade
- High-impact economic news filter (toggle, with a buffer in minutes)
- Risk per trade (RiskUSD, fixed amount - adjust to your account)
- Independent ATR multipliers for the stop loss and the take profit
- Trailing stop (toggle): activation point, trail distance and minimum step
- Minimum cooldown (in bars) between trades, and a one-trade-per-day cap
This product trades at market (not with pending orders), keeps at most one open position at a time, and is specifically designed for the XAUUSD pair on the M5 timeframe.
Note on the news filter: it depends on your broker/terminal providing economic calendar data. If it is not available, the filter does not block trading by mistake - it simply does not intervene.
