Gold Trend Breakout is an expert advisor for XAUUSD (gold) on the 30-minute timeframe, designed to trade breakouts in the direction of the prevailing trend while avoiding counter-trend entries.
How it works:
The system looks for the most recent 30-minute candle with a sufficiently large body (relative to its own volatility range, measured with ATR), skipping weak or indecision candles (dojis). When RSI enters oversold territory, it places a Buy Stop order just above that candle's body; when RSI enters overbought territory, it places a Sell Stop just below it. Both orders are only triggered when their direction matches an exponential trend moving average (200-period EMA by default), which avoids buying breakouts during a strong downtrend or selling breakouts during a strong uptrend.
Risk management:
Risk per trade is set as a fixed amount (RiskUSD) in your account currency, not a percentage. The default values are tuned for a reference account of about $10,000 — IMPORTANT: before running the EA on your own account, adjust RiskUSD (and ActivationUSD) to match your actual capital, so you don't risk too large a share of a small account or under-risk on a large one. Take profit sits at the same distance as the stop loss (1:1 reward/risk). Once floating profit reaches the configured ActivationUSD amount, the stop loss is moved to lock in that gain, and from there it trails price at a fixed distance.
Configurable parameters:
- RSI period and thresholds
- ATR period and minimum candle body threshold
- Enable/disable the trend filter and its EMA period
- Risk per trade (RiskUSD, fixed amount — adjust to your account)
- Trailing stop activation amount (ActivationUSD) and trail distance
This product trades with pending orders (Buy Stop / Sell Stop), keeps at most one open position at a time, and is specifically designed for the XAUUSD pair on the M30 timeframe.
