SMC Structure, Candles & EMA Cloud
An all-in-one price action toolkit for MetaTrader 5 that combines candlestick pattern recognition, Smart Money Concepts market structure (BOS/CHoCH), and a trend-following EMA cloud — all in a single indicator, with no repainting on closed bars.
This tool was built for traders who follow price action and Smart Money / ICT-style methodology and want their candlestick signals, structure breaks, and trend bias on one chart instead of juggling three or four separate indicators.
WHAT IT DOES
EMA Trend Cloud
Two EMAs (defaults: 20 and 50) are plotted with the space between them filled in — green when the fast EMA is above the slow EMA, red when it is below. This gives an instant visual read of trend direction and dynamic support/resistance.
Trend-Colored Candles
Every candle on the chart can be recolored based on a combined trend reading:
- Green candles: fast EMA above slow EMA AND price closing above the cloud (confirmed bullish trend)
- Red candles: fast EMA below slow EMA AND price closing below the cloud (confirmed bearish trend)
- Gray candles: price sitting inside the cloud, or the EMA direction and price position disagree (no clear trend)
This makes the dominant trend visible at a glance without reading the EMA lines directly.
Candlestick Pattern Recognition
Automatically detects and marks the following patterns with an arrow and a text label:
- Bullish and Bearish Engulfing
- Hammer and Shooting Star (or generic Pin Bar)
- Doji
- Inside Bar
- Morning Star and Evening Star
An optional trend filter can restrict pattern arrows so that only bullish patterns above the EMA cloud and bearish patterns below the EMA cloud are shown, filtering out signals that go against the prevailing trend.
Market Structure: BOS & CHoCH
Swing highs and lows are detected using a fractal method (adjustable sensitivity). When price breaks a swing point in the direction of the existing structure, it is marked as a Break of Structure (BOS). When price breaks a swing point against the existing structure, it is marked as a Change of Character (CHoCH) — a common early signal of trend reversal in Smart Money / ICT methodology. Swing points can optionally be labeled HH, HL, LH, and LL.
All structure and pattern detection works on confirmed, closed-bar data only, so signals do not repaint.

INPUT PARAMETERS
EMA Cloud Settings
- Fast EMA Period — period of the fast EMA used in the cloud (default 20)
- Slow EMA Period — period of the slow EMA used in the cloud (default 50)
- EMA Applied Price — price type used for both EMA calculations (default Close)
Trend-Colored Candles
- Recolor candles by trend — turns the trend-colored candle plot on or off
- Bullish candle color — color used when the trend is confirmed bullish
- Bearish candle color — color used when the trend is confirmed bearish
- Neutral candle color — color used when there is no clear trend
Candle Pattern Settings
- Show Engulfing Patterns — toggle Bullish/Bearish Engulfing detection
- Show Pin Bar Patterns — toggle generic Pin Bar labeling
- Show Hammer / Shooting Star — toggle Hammer/Shooting Star labeling (overrides the generic Pin Bar label when both are enabled)
- Show Doji — toggle Doji detection
- Show Inside Bar — toggle Inside Bar detection
- Show Morning/Evening Star — toggle 3-candle Morning Star / Evening Star detection
- Doji body ratio — maximum candle body size, as a percentage of the candle range, to qualify as a Doji
- Pin Bar wick ratio — minimum wick size, as a percentage of the candle range, required to qualify as a Pin Bar
- Pin Bar body ratio — maximum body size, as a percentage of the candle range, allowed for a Pin Bar
- Show arrow markers on detected candles — toggle arrow icons on detected patterns
- Show text labels on detected candles — toggle text labels on detected patterns
- Pattern arrow width/size — controls the size of the arrow markers
- Filter patterns by EMA Cloud trend — when enabled, only shows bullish patterns above the cloud and bearish patterns below the cloud
Market Structure Settings (BOS/CHoCH)
- Show Market Structure — toggle all structure detection and drawing
- Fractal bars left/right — number of bars on each side used to confirm a swing high or low (higher values = fewer, stronger swing points)
- Label swing points — toggle HH/HL/LH/LL labels on detected swing points
- Bullish BOS line color — color of bullish Break of Structure lines
- Bearish BOS line color — color of bearish Break of Structure lines
- Bullish CHoCH line color — color of bullish Change of Character lines
- Bearish CHoCH line color — color of bearish Change of Character lines
- Structure line width — line thickness for BOS/CHoCH lines
- Max history bars for structure — how many bars back the indicator scans when rebuilding market structure
