Trend-filtered adaptive grid for Bitcoin: trades BTCUSD with the H4 trend, ATR-spaced DCA entries, basket take-profit, trend-reversal exit, a hard drawdown kill-switch and an optional capital-protection floor — not a blind martingale.

BTC Grid Trend is a fully automated grid system for BTCUSD, built to do what most grid EAs fail at: survive trends. Instead of gridding blindly in both directions, it only adds positions in the direction of the higher-timeframe (H4 EMA) trend, banks profit on retracements, and exits the whole basket if the trend flips. A hard floating-drawdown kill-switch caps the worst case, and an optional capital-protection floor can secure your starting capital.

How it works

• Trend filter: an H4 EMA(275) sets the bias — long grids in uptrends, short grids in downtrends, and a stand-aside / flip-exit when the trend reverses.
• Entries: ATR-spaced DCA — it adds on adverse moves by a multiple of ATR, up to a capped number of levels (no unlimited martingale).
• Exits: basket take-profit at a favorable ATR move; trend-flip exit; and a hard floating-drawdown kill-switch.
• Risk control: max levels and max total lots cap exposure; an optional capital floor / profit-lock can protect your initial deposit.

Backtest — honest and reproducible

• Period: 6 years, 2020.06 to 2026.06, BTCUSD
• Model: "1 minute OHLC", real broker data (IC Markets), 5,000 USD starting balance
• Tested configuration (conservative, lot 0.01): +172% net, Profit Factor 1.35, Recovery Factor 4.78, max equity drawdown 13.9%, profitable every single year — including the 2022 bear market.
• More aggressive (lot 0.02): about +345%, max drawdown around 17%.
• Out-of-sample (2024-2026, a period the settings were never optimized on): +119% over 2 years.
• Tested settings: grid spacing 1.0 x ATR(H1), basket TP 1.75 x ATR, 10 levels, H4 EMA 275, drawdown kill-switch 25%, longs + shorts enabled, flip-exit on.

Requirements

• MetaTrader 5, hedging account
• BTCUSD available at your broker; attach to a single H1 chart
• A VPS is recommended (Bitcoin trades nearly 24/7)
• Suggested minimum capital ~2,000 USD. Bitcoin's minimum lot (0.01 BTC) makes very small accounts effectively higher-risk: on a fresh 1,000 USD account, a hot period can show ~50% drawdown before recovery. Use a larger account or the capital-floor option.
