Why can averaging change the behavior of a trading robot?

When the market moves against an open position, some trading algorithms use averaging by opening additional orders. The goal is to change the average entry price of the combined position.

The logic may seem simple: if the price reverses, the combined position may need a smaller move to reach its target. However, averaging also changes how the entire trading system behaves.

What should developers consider?

📌 Average entry price. Additional orders change the price at which the combined position reaches breakeven.

📌 Position volume. Each new order increases total exposure and affects the financial result of subsequent price movements.

📌 Basket exit conditions. A robot may manage several positions as one system rather than treating every trade independently.

📌 Algorithm logic. Results depend on grid spacing, volume rules, and the conditions used to close the entire basket.

📌 Логика алгоритма. Результат зависит от расстояния между ордерами, правил увеличения объёма и условий завершения серии.

BITCOIN CHILL – THE THINKING BEHIND MY STRATEGY (2027–2030)

Hi Bitcoin Chillers!!! ❤️

I want to explain something important about Bitcoin Chill so you can better understand why I designed this EA the way I did, and why I focus on certain backtesting periods.

As a developer, my goal is not simply to create an EA that produces impressive historical backtests. My goal is to develop a strategy that is relevant to the market conditions I expect it to trade in over the coming years.

1. Bitcoin is fundamentally different from Forex

For traditional currency pairs such as EURUSD, I believe testing 5, 10, or even 20 years of historical data is valuable.

EURUSD generally trades within a relatively established price range, although its volatility and market conditions change over time.

Gold also has its own long-term price structure, with major price levels such as $2,000, $4,000, and potentially $6,000.

But Bitcoin is different.

We have already seen Bitcoin rise from around $10,000 to $120,000.

That is an enormous change in its price structure. The trading environment at $10,000 is not necessarily representative of the environment at $100,000 or $150,000.

2. Why I focus more on backtests from 2025 onward

Bitcoin Chill is developed with a forward-looking objective, particularly for the 2027–2030 period.

My expectation is that Bitcoin will increasingly trade within a higher price range, approximately $60,000–$150,000, potentially reaching $180,000.

I personally consider a sustained return below $50,000 less likely, although nothing is guaranteed in financial markets.

For this reason, I place greater importance on backtesting data from 2025 onward, when Bitcoin’s price environment became more relevant to the conditions I am targeting.

This does not mean older backtests are useless. They can still provide valuable information about how a strategy responds to different market conditions.

However, a strategy’s performance under conditions similar to its intended future trading environment is especially important to me.

3. My development philosophy

I do not believe that a strategy becomes better simply because it has a beautiful 10-year backtest.

What matters is whether its trading logic makes sense, whether its risk is controlled, and whether it can remain effective under changing market conditions.

That is why Bitcoin Chill is built around my preferred trading philosophy:

Small losses, larger winning opportunities, and disciplined risk management.

My objective is not to predict every Bitcoin movement or eliminate losing trades.

It is to build a systematic strategy that can identify opportunities, manage risk, and pursue long-term profitability.

4. Designed for tomorrow, not just yesterday

When developing Bitcoin Chill, I am thinking about the market in 2027, 2028, 2029, and 2030 — not just how impressive a backtest looks today.

Of course, no developer can know exactly where Bitcoin will trade in the future. That is why forward testing, live performance, and ongoing evaluation remain essential.

But every important design decision should have a clear reason behind it.

That is the difference between simply optimizing an EA for historical results and developing a strategy with a defined long-term purpose.

Bitcoin Chill is not designed to look perfect in every historical market condition.

It is designed with a clear understanding of the Bitcoin market environment I want to trade.

And that is the philosophy behind my development work.

A bullish trend does not mean every filter agrees. This historical NZDSGDm M5 chart from 28 July 2026 shows Smart Trend with Bullish Trend and BUY ONLY, while volume reads LOW. The MTF summary reports Bullish 10 / Bearish 6, and Signal Stats says No trades in scan. Compare the timeframe readings with price structure before interpreting an arrow. Displayed quality and timeframe percentages are interface scores, not verified live results or guaranteed returns. Test settings on demo first.

A client Gold Reaper account ran from about $400 to over $130,000.

Then it took a serious hit.

That is trading. Not a highlight reel.

I’m not here to only post green days. Good days and bad days both happen with real systems on real money — and I’d rather you see both than pretend drawdowns don’t exist.

Important context:
⚠️ That account was run at VERY high risk (yolo-style settings). It is NOT how I recommend most people run Gold Reaper.
⚠️ High risk can print fast. It can also hurt fast.
✅ Even after the drawdown, that account is still up about +$50,000 from the start.

If you only ever see “+353% new highs” posts, you’re missing half the story. The full story includes pain. The full story also includes: still profitable, still running, still honest.
