Every fair value gap on your chart shows how much of it is already filled, and how often gaps on this symbol and timeframe were filled before.
Rift measures every fair value gap. Each gap carries a live fill meter, and the panel tells you what the gaps of this symbol and timeframe did in the past on your broker's own data. You see at a glance which gaps are fresh, which are half used, and how far price is from the next one, in the right unit for the symbol.
Main features
1. A fill meter on every gap. Each gap has a label with the share already filled, shown right of the newest candle at the level of its box (inverse gaps are labelled iFVG). It updates while the candle is still forming, so you see a gap being used in real time. You choose when a gap counts as filled: full fill, 50% midpoint, first touch, or a candle closing inside the gap.
2. Fill history from your own chart. The panel shows how many past chart gaps were later filled by your rule or closed through, and the median number of bars it took. The same rate is written in every new chart timeframe gap alert, so each alert comes with context.
3. Three kinds of gaps on one chart, each with its own look. Gaps of the chart timeframe are filled boxes. Gaps of a higher timeframe you choose are gold outlines. Opening gaps, where the day opens away from the previous close, are dotted outlines on charts below D1, and recent ones stay on the chart until they are filled.
4. Same day fill odds for opening gaps. Rift checks past daily bars and shows how often an opening gap was filled on the same day. When there are too few past gaps, it says the sample is too small.
5. Inverse fair value gaps. When a candle closes through a gap, the gap becomes an inverse gap (dashed outline; on the chart timeframe it takes the opposite colour). It disappears when a candle closes back through it.
6. Clear units. Forex in pips (0.0001, 0.01 on yen pairs), gold with a pip of 0.10, silver with a pip of 0.01, and indices, crypto and other CFDs in points ("pts", 1.0 of price). The unit in use is printed in the panel.
7. Panel. Fresh, partly filled and inverse gaps, higher timeframe gaps, the gap price is inside, the nearest gap above and below with distance and fill, fill history, opening gaps or their fill odds, and units. Every row and every box has a tooltip. On a short chart the panel becomes compact. The minimize button keeps only a small tab and leaves all gaps on the chart; the choice is remembered for that chart.
8. Alerts. A new gap (chart timeframe, higher timeframe, opening gap) and price entering a fresh chart or higher timeframe gap. Gaps that already exist when the indicator loads never trigger an alert. Popup, sound, push notification and email.
Inputs
Bullish or bearish gaps, higher timeframe gaps, opening gaps, inverse gaps, labels and each alert can be switched on or off. Fill rule, minimum gap size, history depth, higher timeframe, expiry, colours and panel position are adjustable. Values outside the allowed range are refused at start with a clear message in the Experts log.
For expert advisor developers (hidden buffers)
Buffer 0: plus 1 on the third candle of every bullish chart gap and minus 1 on the third candle of every bearish chart gap in the scanned bars, 0 otherwise (empty before the scanned bars). Only closed candles are used, so a marked value does not change later.
Buffer 1: lower edge of the closest active gap above the bid, among the gaps drawn on the chart.
Buffer 2: upper edge of the closest active gap below the bid, among the gaps drawn on the chart.
Buffers 3 and 4: fill in percent of those two gaps (100 for an inverse gap).
Buffer 5: price inside a gap: plus 1 on the support side (a bullish gap, or the inverse of a bearish gap), minus 1 on the resistance side, 0 when the bid is in no gap.
Buffers 1 to 5 are written on the current bar; older bars keep the value they had while the indicator was running. Buffers 1 to 4 hold the empty value constant of MQL5 when there is no active gap on that side. With iCustom or IndicatorCreate, remember that MQL5 counts each input group line as a string parameter, so pass an empty string for each group.
Any symbol and timeframe with enough history: forex, gold, silver, indices and crypto. Opening gaps are used on charts below D1.
Display and alerts only. It does not trade, uses no DLL and no web requests. In the Strategy Tester the demo input presses the panel button by itself, so you can watch it work. Alerts are not sent in the tester.
Trading involves a high risk of loss. Rift shows statistics from your broker's past and current prices. The past fill rate of gaps does not guarantee how future gaps will behave.
