Adaptive Channel Scanner
Adaptive Channel Scanner is a market structure indicator for MetaTrader 5 designed to detect currently relevant price channels, track how they evolve, and quickly identify the strongest opportunities across multiple markets and timeframes.
Instead of simply keeping the best-looking historical channel on the chart, ACS evaluates whether that structure still reflects current price action. When a channel becomes outdated or breaks, the indicator automatically searches for a newer and more relevant structure.
What Adaptive Channel Scanner does
ACS automatically detects ascending and descending channels and evaluates their structural quality, current condition, and relevance to the live market.
The indicator combines several analysis engines:
- Automatic channel detection
- Major pivot-based market structure
- Channel Quality analysis
- Channel Health analysis
- Breakout detection
- Automatic search for new structures after a break
- Multi-timeframe context
- Built-in opportunity scanner
Channel Quality Score
Every detected channel receives a Quality Score from 0 to 100.
The score evaluates factors such as:
- Pivot quality
- Number of independent touches
- Touch balance
- Boundary precision
- Channel maturity
- Structural consistency
- Stability
- Recency
This helps distinguish a weak structure from a well-established channel.
Current Relevance
A channel can be historically excellent while no longer representing the current market.
ACS therefore separates:
Quality = historical structural quality
from
Current Relevance = how relevant the channel is to current price action
An older channel that becomes stale automatically loses priority.
Developing Channels
ACS can detect an emerging structure before it reaches full validation.
These channels are displayed as:
DEVELOPING
This makes it possible to visualize a new market structure while it is still forming rather than waiting until it becomes fully mature.
As additional price information appears, the structure may later become validated or locked.
Adaptive Outer Envelope
Channel width is not based on a single fixed distance.
ACS evaluates several possible outer envelopes and selects the one that provides the best balance between:
- Price containment
- Independent boundary touches
- Boundary precision
- Reasonable channel width
- Outside excursions
This allows the channel geometry to adapt to different instruments and volatility environments.
Slope Sanity
Fast impulsive moves can sometimes resemble channels even when they only represent a short-term price leg.
ACS normalizes channel slope using ATR and reduces the priority of excessively steep structures that are less likely to represent durable market channels.
H4 Context Overlay
On M30 and H1, ACS can discreetly display the current H4 channel.
The active timeframe channel remains clearly visible, while the H4 structure appears in the background using thin, unobtrusive lines.
For example:
H4 bullish + H1 bearish = a local bearish correction inside a broader bullish structure.
This provides higher-timeframe context without cluttering the chart.
Opportunity Radar
ACS includes a compact radar designed to keep the trading chart clean.
It displays:
- Symbol and timeframe
- Opportunity direction
- Opportunity Score
- Channel Quality
- Channel Health
The TOP 3 button temporarily displays the three strongest opportunities detected by the scanner.
Clicking an opportunity switches directly to the corresponding symbol and timeframe.
Multi-Symbol and Multi-Timeframe Scanner
By default, ACS can monitor:
M15 / M30 / H1 / H4 / D1
across multiple instruments available in Market Watch.
The scanner can be used with:
- Forex
- Gold and metals
- Indices
- Crypto instruments offered by the broker
- CFDs and other MetaTrader 5 instruments with sufficient historical data
Breakout Engine
ACS distinguishes several breakout conditions:
- Breakout Watch
- Breakout Active
- Breakout Strong
- Breakout Extended
- Failed Breakout
- Trap
This helps separate a temporary move outside the channel from a more significant structural breakout.
Smart Alerts
ACS can generate alerts when:
- A new opportunity reaches the selected minimum score
- A Breakout Active condition appears
- A Breakout Strong condition appears
An anti-spam system prevents unnecessary repeated alerts.
Sound alerts are enabled by default, while intrusive native MetaTrader popup alerts are disabled by default.
Clean Chart Design
Adaptive Channel Scanner is designed to keep the chart readable.
- Clear primary channel
- Channel median
- Limited recent pivot markers
- Discreet H4 context
- Compact Opportunity Radar
- No permanent full-screen scanner table
Quick Start
- Attach Adaptive Channel Scanner to a MetaTrader 5 chart.
- Keep the default settings for your first use.
- Blue lines represent the primary structure of the current timeframe.
- On H1 and M30, discreet gray lines can represent the H4 context.
- Use the Radar to review the current setup.
- Click TOP 3 to view the strongest opportunities currently detected.
- Use Quality, Health and Relevance as context before making a trading decision.
Important
Adaptive Channel Scanner is an analysis and decision-support tool.
It does not automatically open trades and does not guarantee trading results.
Channels are structural approximations of price behavior, not exact price predictions.
Structures marked DEVELOPING may evolve as new market data becomes available.
Appropriate risk management remains essential.
