Account Guardian
Prop-firm accounts are often lost on a single difficult day rather than on a poor strategy. A fast move during news, a trade left open while you are away, or one more trade after a losing morning can take you past the daily loss rule, and the account is closed.
I made Account Guardian to enforce that rule for me automatically.
You attach it to one chart and enter your rules. It watches your whole account: every symbol, your manual trades and trades from other Expert Advisors. When your loss for the day comes close to the limit, it closes all open trades and deletes pending orders. If a new trade is opened later that day, it closes that trade as well. When your firm's trading day resets, it unlocks and you can trade again.
What it does:
— It measures the daily loss the way prop firms do: from the balance at the start of the day, the equity at the start of the day, or whichever of the two was higher.
— The daily limit can be a percentage of your account size or of the day's starting value.
— It acts before the limit is reached. By default it steps in 0.5% early, so on a 100,000 account with a 5% daily limit it acts at a loss of 4,500 instead of 5,000.
— It sends a warning when 80% of the daily limit is used, on screen and, if you enable it, as a push notification to your phone.
— It resets at your firm's time. You can choose broker server time, UTC, Central Europe or New York, and summer and winter time are handled automatically.
— It shows clearly when it cannot protect you, for example when Algo Trading is switched off or the connection is lost. The panel turns red and you receive an alert.
— Restarting MetaTrader does not remove a lock.
How to set it up:
— Attach it to any one chart. One copy per account is enough.
— In the Common tab, enable Allow Algo Trading, and make sure the Algo Trading button in the toolbar is on.
— Enter your firm's rules in the Inputs tab.
— Check that the panel shows ACTIVE.
You can try it in the Strategy Tester first. There it opens practice trades so you can see how it locks and unlocks, and it prints a short summary at the end.
Limitations:
It reacts on the next price update after the limit is reached, so a large gap or a sharp move during news can move the price past the safety buffer before trades are closed. If you trade large positions, use a larger buffer. It works only while MetaTrader is running and connected. It does not open trades and it cannot guarantee that you pass a challenge. Please check your firm's exact rules and set the inputs to match them.
Inputs:
— Account size: leave 0 to use your balance when you first attach it, or enter your challenge size.
— Daily loss limit (%) and Max total loss (%): 0 switches either one off.
— Daily limit is a % of: the account size or the day's starting value.
— Daily loss is measured from: starting balance, starting equity, or the higher of the two.
— Safety buffer: how many percent before each limit it acts.
— Reset time zone, hour and minute.
— Delete pending orders when locked, warning level, pop-up and push alerts, maximum slippage when closing.
— Clear a max-loss lock on start: use this only if you intend to continue trading on that account.
— Strategy Tester only: practice trades on or off, and your broker's GMT offset and summer time rule.
If your firm uses a rule that is not covered, please send me a message, I read everyone's. :)
