Dx Gold trades gold (XAUUSD) on the 15-minute chart with two independent engines. Each engine opens one position at a time, with a protective stop already on the broker's server, follows the price after entry and closes winners on its own.
Every trade is protected
- A protective stop loss, placed on the broker's server with the order.
- An exit that follows the price once the trade moves in your favour.
- A daily brake: after a bad day, no new entries until the next day.
- A drawdown brake: position size is reduced while the account is in a drawdown.
What it does not do
- No grid, no martingale, no averaging down.
- It never raises the lot after a loss.
- No hidden dates, no external files, no DLLs, no internet access. What you backtest is what runs live.
Restart-safe. After a restart or a VPS move, it rebuilds the day from the account history and the chart, and it never chases a move that already happened.
Seven risk levels, one switch
The risk level sizes every trade from your balance. All seven levels follow the same signals; only the position size changes. VT Markets XAUUSD, $10,000 start, 1 Mar 2024 to 17 Oct 2026, every tick based on real ticks. Max drawdown is the larger relative equity drawdown of VT Markets and IC Markets.
- Level 1 (Very Low): max drawdown 4.8%, $10,000 grew to $24,411
- Level 2 (Low): max drawdown 7.0%, $10,000 grew to $38,959
- Level 3 (Moderate, default): max drawdown 9.4%, $10,000 grew to $60,627
- Level 4 (Balanced): max drawdown 12.6%, $10,000 grew to $107,324
- Level 5 (Growth): max drawdown 17.8%, $10,000 grew to $182,194
- Level 6 (High): max drawdown 21.7%, $10,000 grew to $311,084
- Level 7 (Extreme): max drawdown 29.1%, $10,000 grew to $1,659,664
Level 7 is not for everyone. In that test its worst single trade lost $115,914, its worst month was -19.6% and its relative equity drawdown reached 29.1%. Use it only with money you can afford to see drop by a third.
Backtest at $10,000
VT Markets XAUUSD, 1 Mar 2024 to 17 Oct 2026, every tick based on real ticks (100% history quality), leverage 1:500, broker spread and commission included.
- Fixed 0.10 lot: +$11,621, profit factor 2.13, max relative drawdown 6.2%, 792 trades, 5 losing months of 32
- Level 3 (default): +$50,627, profit factor 2.60, max relative drawdown 9.4%, 782 trades, 6 losing months of 32
- Level 6: +$301,084, profit factor 2.96, max relative drawdown 21.7%, 780 trades, 7 losing months of 32
- Level 7: +$1,649,664, profit factor 3.12, max relative drawdown 29.1%, 780 trades, 8 losing months of 32
Every calendar year in the test was positive at Level 3: 2024 (from March) +25.5%, 2025 +47.1%, 2026 (to 17 October) +228.3%.
Second broker. On IC Markets the same build made +$74,559 at Level 3 (profit factor 3.11, 8.9% drawdown) and +$3.56M at Level 7 (profit factor 3.48, 24.6% drawdown). IC Markets real-tick history only starts in April 2026, so most of that test runs on 1-minute OHLC data.
Inputs
- Position Sizing: Sizing Mode (Automatic Risk Level / Fixed lot / Custom %), Risk Level 1-7, Fixed Lot, Custom % (the loss of one stopped main trade, as % of balance, up to 2.1%).
- Account Protection: Equity Stop (maximum drawdown % from peak: closes everything and stops), Daily Loss Limit % (pauses until tomorrow), Max Open Lots, Max Spread.
- Trading Calendar: Pause on US jobs report Fridays, Year-end break (24, 26 and 31 December), Close positions before the weekend.
- General: Magic Number, Order Comment, Show status on chart.
Requirements
- Symbol: XAUUSD, or your broker's gold/USD symbol with any suffix.
- Timeframe: M15. Attach to ONE chart.
- Broker time: New York close (GMT+2 winter / GMT+3 summer), as most MT5 brokers use. The daily levels come from the broker's daily candles.
- Account: hedging; leverage 1:100 or higher.
- Minimum deposit: $300 at Level 3 ($100 at Level 7, $600 at Level 1). Below that the lot would be under 0.01, and the EA skips the trade rather than rounding up.
- Running: a VPS, so the EA sees the whole trading day.
Attached to another symbol or timeframe, the EA runs a once-a-day demonstration mode at the minimum lot. That mode is not the product and is not tested.
The chart panel shows the status, today / week / month / all-time results, balance, equity and drawdown, and your protection settings. The moving averages on the chart are visual guides; they are not the trading signal.
Important
Past results do not guarantee future results. Backtests cannot reproduce every live condition, such as slippage in fast markets, weekend gaps or broker outages. Trading leveraged CFDs carries a high risk of loss. Start on a demo account or at Level 1.
