StopFirst Loss Limit Monitor shows, for your whole account, how much of a daily loss limit and a maximum overall loss you have used and how much room is left - measured the way prop firms measure them. Free.
It is an indicator: it measures and warns, and it never closes anything. It runs beside any Expert Advisor without taking its place on the chart.
WHAT IT MEASURES
Daily loss limit (default 4 %)
- In percent of the account size, or in money.
- Measured from the day-start balance (default), the higher of day-start balance and equity, or the day-start equity - the three ways firms define it.
- Floating loss included (default), or closed trades only.
- The day resets at an hour you choose in the broker's time, GMT, Central European time or New York time, each with its own daylight saving dates. Default: midnight Central European time. A monitor that resets at the broker's midnight is an hour off for part of the year.
Maximum overall loss (default 8 %, static)
- The floor is the account size minus the limit, shown as a number the way firms show it.
If all stops hit
- What your open positions stand to lose from the current price if every stop is hit, set against the room left today: "OVER ROOM" when your stops alone could reach the limit. A position without a stop is shown in red as UNBOUNDED.
NUMBERS YOU CAN TRUST
- Equity is measured twice a second, not only on ticks of the chart symbol.
- Deposits and withdrawals are not profit or loss: they are read from the deal history and excluded.
- If the terminal was off when the day reset, the day-start balance is rebuilt from the deal history - not taken as "the balance now", which would show a fresh daily allowance after a losing morning.
- Nothing is measured until the terminal has synchronised with the server.
- The measuring is the same code as in StopFirst Account Guard.
WARNINGS
- At 70 % of each limit (adjustable) and again at the limit: panel colour, an alert, and a push notification to your phone if MetaTrader is set up for it. Once each, not every second.
- Past a limit the panel says OVER in red and keeps measuring. Nothing is closed.
THE PANEL
One word at the top: OK, WARNING, OVER, NO CONNECTION or WAITING.
DAILY LOSS - used, in money and percent, with a bar and a mark at the warning level; room left and when the day resets; what it is measured from and where the day-start figure came from; the risk if all stops hit.
OVERALL LOSS - equity, loss, room, the floor.
Each section can be collapsed and the whole panel minimised.
If StopFirst Account Guard runs on the same terminal, one row shows its state: ACTIVE with its room, or LOCKED.
QUESTIONS TO ASK YOUR FIRM
- Is the daily loss measured from the day-start balance, the day-start equity, or the higher of the two?
- Does it include floating loss?
- When does the day reset, and in which time zone?
- Is the maximum loss static, or does it trail?
STRATEGY TESTER
It measures in the tester as it does live. Set the broker's GMT offset in the inputs to reset the day in your firm's time zone - the tester cannot measure it. The panel is drawn in visual mode only. Alerts and push notifications are ignored by the tester.
INPUTS
Account
- Account size the limits refer to (0 = the balance when first attached; setting it is recommended).
Daily loss limit
- On or off; percent or money; value (default 4 %); measured from; floating included; time zone and hour of the reset (default 00:00 Central European time); the broker's GMT offset (99 = measure it).
Maximum overall loss (static)
- On or off; percent or money; value (default 8 %).
Warnings
- Warn at this share of each limit (default 70 %); alert again at the limit; push notifications.
Automation
- Accept panel commands from another program on the same chart. Off by default; used for automated testing.
Appearance
- Panel position, font size, colours.
Every input is checked when it starts. A wrong value stops it with a message saying which one and why.
GOOD TO KNOW
- It never closes, modifies or opens anything. To close everything at the limit and keep the account flat until it resets, StopFirst Account Guard does that - with the same measuring.
- It is an indicator, so it can share a chart with any Expert Advisor.
- Its state is kept in terminal global variables named after the account number, apart from the Account Guard's; they are written to disk after every change.
- Trailing overall limits, profit targets and time rules are the Account Guard's, not the monitor's.
- No DLLs, no internet access, nothing sent anywhere.
QUESTIONS
Will it close my trades when I reach the limit?
No. It cannot - it is an indicator. It warns you, and shows OVER.
Why does it show a different daily loss than my firm's dashboard?
Check the four questions above: the reference, floating loss, the reset hour and its time zone. With those set as your firm defines them, the figures agree.
I withdrew money. Does it count as a loss?
No. Deposits and withdrawals are excluded.
Is it the same as StopFirst Account Guard?
It measures the same way. The Account Guard also acts: it closes everything at the limit and keeps the account flat until the limit resets.
