HIZOA Volume Reversal Flow
Volume Pressure, Reversal Development and Directional Confirmation
HIZOA Volume Reversal Flow is an analytical volume oscillator designed to visualise bullish and bearish pressure, identify developing volume reversals and reduce distracting counter-flow noise during clearer directional conditions.
Instead of treating every opposing volume bar as equally meaningful, the indicator evaluates volume intensity, directional flow, price behaviour and multi-stage follow-through. This helps traders distinguish ordinary fluctuations from reversal activity that receives continued confirmation.
HIZOA Volume Reversal Flow does not provide automatic buy or sell instructions. It provides structured market information that can offer valuable confirmation when evaluating a trading opportunity, making a trading decision or managing an existing position within the user's own strategy and risk-management framework.
Bullish and Bearish Volume Pressure
The oscillator displays volume pressure above and below its central zero line:
• Bullish pressure is displayed above the zero line.
• Bearish pressure is displayed below the zero line.
• Different colour intensities represent the relative strength of the measured volume activity.
• Gold-coloured bars identify detected reversal stages.
The histogram height represents the current volume relative to its recent average. This makes unusually active periods easier to distinguish from ordinary or low-volume conditions.
Three-Stage Reversal Confirmation
A single reversal bar can be informative, but one isolated bar does not automatically confirm that market behaviour has changed.
HIZOA Volume Reversal Flow therefore evaluates reversal development through three consecutive stages:
• Reversal Impulse 1/3 – an initial qualifying shift in volume flow and price behaviour has been detected.
• Reversal Confirmation 2/3 – the following bar supports the new direction and retains sufficient flow.
• Flow Reversal Confirmed 3/3 – a third qualifying bar confirms continued directional development.
Each stage has its own requirements. A sequence only progresses when the next bar satisfies the conditions belonging to that specific stage.
The reversal stages are displayed using gold-coloured bars, allowing developing and completed reversal sequences to be distinguished from regular bullish and bearish volume pressure.
A completed three-stage sequence represents confirmed reversal development within the indicator's methodology. It can provide valuable context when evaluating a possible change in market direction, but does not guarantee that price will continue in that direction.
Directional Flow After Confirmation
After a complete 3/3 reversal confirmation, the indicator can temporarily prioritise the newly confirmed direction.
During this directional window:
• Flow supporting the confirmed direction remains visible.
• Weaker opposing bars can be filtered from the display.
• The underlying calculations continue normally.
• A genuine new reversal sequence can still be detected.
This creates a cleaner visual transition after confirmation without permanently locking the oscillator into one direction.
The directional window can be enabled or disabled, and its duration can be adjusted by the user.
Clear-Trend Noise Filtering
During clearer directional conditions, isolated opposing bars can create unnecessary visual doubt even when the broader volume flow remains intact.
The adaptive noise filter evaluates the consistency of recent flow and can temporarily hide a weak, isolated bar that moves against a clearly established direction.
Opposing activity remains visible when it gains sufficient confirmation or displays exceptional volume or flow strength. This means the filter is designed to reduce minor visual noise without ignoring meaningful counter-pressure.
The original volume-flow values remain calculated internally. The filter affects only how qualifying bars are presented visually.
Volume Classification
The current market activity is classified into four relative volume conditions:
• LOW VOLUME
• MEDIUM VOLUME
• HIGH VOLUME
• EXTREME VOLUME
These classifications are based on the current volume compared with its recent local average.
Volume classification describes relative activity. It does not independently determine bullish or bearish direction.
Dynamic Status Information
The oscillator includes a live status display showing the current interpretation of the most recently closed candle.
Depending on market conditions, the status can describe:
• Bullish or bearish pressure.
• Weak directional confirmation.
• Medium, high or extreme volume.
• Reversal impulse stage 1/3.
• Reversal confirmation stage 2/3.
• Completed flow reversal stage 3/3.
• An active post-reversal directional window.
• Isolated opposing flow removed by the adaptive filter.
The header also displays the active symbol and timeframe, making screenshots and multi-chart analysis easier to identify.
Understanding the Colours
The standard colour structure provides clear visual separation:
• Turquoise shades – bullish volume pressure.
• Purple shades – bearish volume pressure.
• Gold-coloured bars – reversal impulse, confirmation and completed reversal stages.
• White zero line – neutral separation between bullish and bearish pressure.
Within the bullish and bearish palettes, brighter colours represent stronger relative volume activity.
The separate reversal colour makes these developing conditions easier to recognise among the regular volume-flow bars.
Practical Use
HIZOA Volume Reversal Flow can help traders observe:
• Whether volume pressure is predominantly bullish or bearish.
• Whether current activity is low, medium, high or extreme.
• Whether opposing pressure is isolated or receiving follow-through.
• Whether a possible reversal remains a single impulse or develops into a complete three-stage sequence.
• Whether directional flow remains consistent after confirmation.
• Where visual counter-flow noise may be distracting from the broader structure.
• Whether price movement is supported by meaningful relative volume activity.
These observations can provide additional confirmation when assessing possible entries, exits, position management or changing market conditions.
The indicator can be used independently or alongside price action, support and resistance, market structure, divergence, sessions, candle analysis and event-based tools. How its information is applied depends on the trader's own strategy and decision-making process.
Using HIZOA Volume Reversal Flow with Other HIZOA Indicators
HIZOA Volume Reversal Flow can be used independently, but it can also provide complementary information when combined with other HIZOA analytical tools.
HIZOA Clean Volume Flow
HIZOA Volume Reversal Flow and HIZOA Clean Volume Flow examine different aspects of volume behaviour and can provide complementary perspectives when used together.
HIZOA Clean Volume Flow focuses on the clarity and continuity of directional volume flow. Its smoother interpretation can provide a broader and more stable view of the prevailing volume direction, making it useful for observing persistent flow development and maintaining perspective during temporary market fluctuations.
HIZOA Volume Reversal Flow responds more actively to shorter-term changes in volume pressure. It focuses on pressure shifts, developing reversals and multi-stage directional confirmation, allowing traders to observe potential changes before they become visible within the broader flow.
Because their calculations, response characteristics and purposes differ, the two indicators may occasionally display different status information at the same moment. This is intentional and provides additional context rather than duplicated information.
For example, Volume Reversal Flow may already detect increasing bullish pressure or a developing bullish reversal while Clean Volume Flow still shows weak confirmation or maintains a broader bearish outlook. This can indicate that short-term behaviour is beginning to change, but that the longer-term volume structure has not yet fully confirmed that change.
When used together:
• Clean Volume Flow can provide the broader directional perspective.
• Volume Reversal Flow can provide a more responsive view of shorter-term pressure changes and reversal development.
This combination can help traders distinguish between a temporary counter-movement and a developing change that is gradually receiving broader confirmation.
HIZOA RSI Divergences Oscillator
HIZOA Volume Reversal Flow can also be combined with HIZOA RSI Divergences Oscillator. The two indicators analyse different forms of market behaviour: Volume Reversal Flow evaluates changes in volume pressure and multi-stage reversal development, while RSI Divergences evaluates divergence between price movement and momentum.
When both indicators independently identify reversal conditions in the same direction, their signals can provide additional confluence. A bullish RSI divergence occurring together with bullish reversal development in Volume Reversal Flow, or a bearish divergence together with bearish reversal development, can therefore provide additional context when assessing a potential change in market direction.
Opposing information can be equally valuable. If Volume Reversal Flow indicates reversal development while RSI Divergences identifies an opposing divergence, the signals are not confirming each other. Such disagreement can indicate that the market structure remains uncertain and that a detected reversal should not be trusted blindly.
Neither agreement nor disagreement between the indicators guarantees a future price movement. Their combined purpose is to provide different analytical perspectives that the trader can evaluate within the wider market context.
Each HIZOA indicator remains a fully independent product and does not require another HIZOA indicator to function.
Timeframe-Optimised Calibration
HIZOA Volume Reversal Flow uses internally calibrated reversal thresholds designed to preserve consistent behaviour across different chart timeframes.
The reversal calibration has been evaluated across multiple market types and timeframes, including gold, cryptocurrency, forex and index markets.
The optimisation and validation process included more than 1.3 million individual timeframe and historical-candle evaluations across M1, M5, M15, M30, H1, H4 and D1.
Testing included both parameter evaluation and separate out-of-sample validation using historical data outside the sample used to select the candidate settings. This additional validation was used to determine whether small calibration changes remained stable beyond the original optimisation sample.
The results showed that the existing core calibration already provided robust behaviour across most tested timeframes. The original calibration is therefore deliberately retained where testing did not provide sufficient evidence that a change would improve the balance between reversal detection, directional follow-through and visual noise.
Independent validation supported a slightly adjusted volume calibration on M5 and H4. These timeframe-specific calibrations are applied automatically by the indicator and require no manual configuration.
Final Calibration Structure
• M1 – Standard volume calibration
• M5 – Timeframe-optimised volume calibration
• M15 – Standard volume calibration
• M30 – Standard volume calibration
• H1 – Standard volume calibration
• H4 – Timeframe-optimised volume calibration
• D1 – Standard volume calibration
The underlying reversal methodology remains consistent across all supported timeframes. Only the validated timeframe-specific volume calibration is adjusted where testing supported the change.
The purpose of this calibration is not to maximise the number of reversal detections. It is designed to maintain a balanced relationship between sensitivity, visual clarity and multi-stage reversal confirmation.
Technical calibration values are protected internally to preserve consistent default behaviour.
Adjustable Settings
Users can configure:
• Histogram bar width.
• Visual scaling of the histogram.
• Maximum displayed bar height.
• Activation of the post-reversal directional window.
• The number of bars used by the directional window.
• Activation of clear-trend noise filtering.
• Visibility and position of the status information.
• Status font size and header information colour.
• Volume and reversal alert preferences.
The underlying reversal calculations and technical calibration values are protected internally to preserve consistent default behaviour. Validated timeframe-specific calibration is applied automatically where appropriate, requiring no manual adjustment by the user.
Alerts
Optional alerts can notify the user when high or extreme volume conditions are detected on a newly closed candle.
The alert system can be configured to:
• Notify the user of high-volume conditions.
• Notify the user of extreme-volume conditions.
• Restrict enabled volume alerts to detected reversal stages only.
Alerts provide timely information that can support the trader's analysis and decision-making process. They should be evaluated within the wider market context and the user's own trading methodology.
Important Information
HIZOA Volume Reversal Flow is an objective informational and analytical tool designed to support market observation and informed trading decisions.
The displayed pressure, volume and reversal information can provide valuable context and confirmation within a trading strategy. However, the indicator does not independently predict future price direction or guarantee that a detected reversal will continue.
A gold-coloured reversal bar or completed three-stage sequence should therefore be interpreted as analytical confirmation within the indicator's methodology, not as a standalone instruction to open or close a position.
Volume data can differ between brokers, symbols and market types. On instruments without centralised exchange volume, MetaTrader may use tick volume as the available representation of market activity.
Because available volume data and market behaviour can differ between instruments and brokers, timeframe calibration does not imply identical signal frequency or behaviour across all markets.
All displayed information should be combined with the trader's own analysis, strategy and risk-management framework.
