POC Volume Profile

Identify the key institutional support, resistance, and balance zones that matter most.

The Daily Fixed Range Volume Profile is a powerful analytical tool that visualizes the distribution of tick volume (Forex) or real exchange volume (Futures/Stocks) at distinct price levels. Unlike standard indicators, this tool anchors itself dynamically to the start of the current trading day and the last three trading days, providing you with four independent, high-definition volume histograms.

It acts like a horizontal roadmap of market participation, showing you exactly where significant smart money accumulated positions.

Key Features

  • Multiple Day Lookback: Analyze the last 3 days + the current day simultaneously. See 4 complete, independent graphs on one chart.

  • Daily Fixed Range: Every histogram is anchored exactly to the opening bar of that trading day. No messy, drifting profiles.

  • Value Area (VA): Automatically highlights the price range where 70% of the day’s volume occurred. Distinguished visually into "Value Area Up" and "Value Area Down" volume.

  • Value Area High/Low (VAH/VAL): Crucial dynamic institutional support and resistance lines derived from balance.

  • Point of Control (POC): Draws a thick, sharp horizontal line at the single price level that saw the heaviest trading activity of the day.

  • Intraday Clarity (M1 Only): On the 1-minute timeframe, detailed volume labels populate the histogram, providing precise volume figures per price bucket.

  • End-of-Day Extension: Key levels (POC, VAH, VAL) start at the open and end exactly at the market close (23:59:59) for that day, helping you avoid drawing rays into invalid future zones.

  • 100% Native: Runs entirely on native MT5 data. No external APIs, broker subscriptions, or third-party connections required.

How It Helps You This indicator does not generate buy/sell signals; it generates context. By observing the intersection of price and high/low volume zones, traders can identify classic high-probability setups:

  • Support/Resistance Confluence: High Volume Nodes (HVNs) outside the Value Area act as strong magnetic support or resistance on retests.

  • Balance/Imbalance Shifts: Price trading within the previous day's Value Area suggests a balanced market. Price breaking out of the previous day's Value Area suggests strong imbalance and trend potential.

  • Institutional Levels: POCs of previous days often act as major turning points during subsequent sessions.

Inputs

  • Days Lookback: (Default: 3) Define how many past daily profiles to generate.

  • Bucket Size (Points): (Default: 20) Set the granularity of the histogram rows. Higher liquidity symbols need larger numbers.

  • Profile Width (Bars): (Default: 15) Width of the histogram in bars relative to the chart’s current bar size.

  • Value Area %: (Default: 70.0) The percentage of daily volume used to define the balance area.
