Looks that John open a new site to sell his ideas.

His new idea seems to be based on a new filter called roofing filter which for me is just band pass filter. See enclosure.

Did anybody make any strategy based on this filter and Walk Forward test ??

Hmmm. Seems John tries again to sell some trading signals after failure and closing his eminiz site which was based on Corona charts...

They have already been converted to metatrader (starting from this post https://www.mql5.com/en/forum/174980/page32)

As usual, what John Ehlers tells should be taken with a grain of salt but it seems that we were able to squeeze what is usable from it too (adaptive super smoother, for example, is not a bad way to filter data in my opinion, even though some other ways of adapting could be tested on it). As of his trading signals : he is probably a good engineer but so far he haven't proved that he is as good a trader too - all his attempts in that part of the world so far were failures, which shows that it is not enough to have just one part of a trading knowledge to be a good trader too.

HELLO MRTOOLS,

THANKS For your kind assistance.

I just attended John Ehler live webinar. (stock spotter sent me invitation)

For my questions I got following answers

1) What is a difference between bad pass and roofing filters. Answer was better attenuation on the bands so better.

2) For what time frame his new technique is applicable. Answer was he is using for daily charts but for all TF is OK.

Hmmm this needs to be proven. Daily charts has little bars so easy to fit whatever to them specially if you choose

sideways period.

3) Is this technique applicable for HF FOREX data - no answer

4) Is this technique will work if data will have strong trends - no answer

5) I asked him also if he made any Walk Forward Test for any instruments using this technique - also no answer

Well, he was recommending his new book and stock spotter service quite much instead...

In next few days I will make some Walk Forward tests using John's stochastic strategy in comparison to

ordinary stochastic strategy on the same data sets so we will is if it extracts some more trade-able info.

here is an info about Nyquist-Shannon Moving Average (together with MT4 code) which suppose to be superior to Ehler's MA.

Did anybody tried it already ??

Are they talking about this MA : https://www.mql5.com/en/forum/182120

If they are, I do not think that they are on a right track (quite frankly it is too complicated to use and the results are not what one would expect from a good average/filter).

Not the question if something is superior to Ehlers' ma (Ehlers is not good in the field of MAs - some his attempts like the one he named "zero lag ma" are frankly anything but serious) but a comparison to some much better filters immediately comes to mind and then that ma is not going to be so shiny
