Comex, previously known as the Commodity Exchange Inc., is the primary market for trading metals such as gold, silver, copper and aluminum. The COMEX merged with the New York Mercantile exchange in 1994 and became the division responsible for metals trading.

Based in New York City in the United States, COMEX provides investment opportunities to investors all over the world.

The Commodity Exchange Inc. was first established in New York in 1933. During the first forty years of existence, COMEX focused on trading copper, silver, and aluminum.

The exchange launched its first gold futures contract on 31 December 1974 and within a very short period of time, COMEX became the leader in gold futures transactions. In 1982, options on gold futures were added.
