How to copy trades between two MT5 accounts on the same computer (step by step)

You trade one account by hand and want the same trades on a second account, a prop-firm challenge, or another account on your VPS. MetaTrader 5 can't do this by itself, but a local copier can: one copy of the EA sends, another receives, and both run in terminals on the same Windows computer or VPS.

What you need

  • Two MetaTrader 5 terminals installed in different folders, each logged in to its own account
  • Algo trading allowed in both
  • TrueRisk Trade Copier attached to one chart in each terminal

Step by step

  1. In the first terminal attach TrueRisk Trade Copier and set Mode to Sender. Leave Channel at 1.
  2. In the second terminal attach it again, set Mode to Receiver, with the same Channel (1).
  3. Pick how the receiver sizes its trades. The default is risk %: the copy risks 0.5% of the receiving account, worked out from the sender's stop loss. You can also copy by balance ratio, by a multiplier or with a fixed lot.
  4. If the brokers name symbols differently (XAUUSD and XAUUSD.s) the copier matches the common ones by itself; add the rest under "Symbols named differently", for example XAUUSD=GOLD.
  5. Open a small trade on the sender. The receiver shows the copy within about half a second (360 to 470 ms in our live test on a demo account).

Why risk % instead of a lot multiplier

A multiplier copies the sender's lot, not its risk. If the sender moves its stop twice as far, the copy risks twice as much and nobody notices. Risk % reads the sender's stop on every trade and sizes the copy to the receiver's own balance, and the copier also cuts any copy that would not fit in the room left before the receiver's daily or maximum loss limit.

Trades without a stop loss

By default the receiver waits until the sender sets a stop, then copies. You can also let it add an ATR stop, or copy without one.
