In my previous reviews, I tested TrendCue Smart Trend on XAUUSD M5 using a fixed trading workflow and continued following the same market after the original test ended.

The original test is here:

After the original test concluded, I continued to follow XAUUSD M5 and publish the setups regularly on my blog.

The latest consolidated review, covering August 28 to September 1, is here:

Today, September 2, I wanted to look at something slightly different.

Instead of reviewing only one setup, I followed the same XAUUSD M5 session using both Smart Trend and Scalping mode.

The comparison is useful because the two modes are designed to read the same market differently.

SMART TREND

Smart Trend stayed focused on the broader bullish move.

The TrendCue Structure at the bottom of the chart remained blue, indicating that the broader market structure was bullish. For this reason, I only considered BUY signals and ignored SELL signals while the structure remained bullish.

This is the main TrendCue setup I have been using and explaining consistently throughout the previous blog posts.

The purpose of these updates is not simply to show individual winning trades. It is to document and explain how the same setup behaves as new market sessions develop.

In this case, the accepted BUY setup developed into a sustained directional move. Price continued through TP1, TP2 and TP3 before eventually reaching TP4.

This is the type of movement Smart Trend is designed to capture: fewer decisions and more focus on the larger directional move.

SCALPING MODE

Scalping reacted faster to the changes inside the same session.

Earlier in the day, it identified a short setup. The bearish move developed for a while, but it did not reach the first displayed target before the market changed direction.

Later, the bullish setup captured the stronger move.

That BUY setup continued through TP1, TP2 and TP3.

This shows the main difference between the two modes.

Smart Trend is designed to stay focused on the broader directional structure.

Scalping is more responsive and can identify additional opportunities inside the same session, but that naturally also means reacting to moves that may not develop into a full target sequence.

SAME MARKET, DIFFERENT READ

I do not see Smart Trend and Scalping as two competing versions of the same system.

They are designed for different ways of reading the market.

Smart Trend gives more weight to the broader structure and directional move.

Scalping responds faster to shorter-term changes and therefore produces a different sequence of opportunities.

The purpose of these posts is to keep following the setup in real market conditions, including the trades that work and the ones that do not, rather than selecting only the cleanest historical examples.
