DG Trade Manager is a modern trade panel for MetaTrader 4. It sizes each position from the risk you choose, lets you set the entry, stop loss and take profit by dragging lines on the chart, and helps you manage the trade afterwards. It also keeps your rules in one place and automatically turns your closed trades into notes and insights you can learn from.
Why use the trade manager?
Many trading mistakes happen around the entry: a lot size worked out in a hurry, a stop loss moved “just this once”, a trade left open past the point where you meant to leave, or a bad day that keeps going. The panel holds your risk rules for you, so you don’t have to remember them under pressure.
Position sizing
Choose how risk is measured:
- percentage of equity
- percentage of balance
- fixed amount
Place your stop loss, and the panel works out the lot size, including the commission you enter. Before you trade, it shows the risk and the reward at your take profit, as an amount and as a ratio such as 1:3. Every trade then carries the same risk, whatever the stop distance.
Trade box on the chart
The entry, stop loss and take profit are movable lines on the chart, so you set the trade where you see it. Market, limit and stop orders all work the same way. You can place the order from the Trade box, with the BUY and SELL buttons on the panel, or with hotkeys. With Confirm clicks on, a second click is needed. After the trade is open, you can change its settings from the panel. The changes are listed and need your confirmation before they are applied.
Trade management
Each trade can have a break-even trigger line, up to three partial closes and a trailing stop. You set them on the chart for each trade, and the panel monitors and manages them for you. The Manage page lists your open trades and shows the active settings of each position. It also has buttons to close a single trade, all winning trades, all losing trades or all trades at once. With Confirm clicks on, a second click is needed for any close, which helps prevent mistaken clicks.
Protection rules
- Daily loss limit, calculated on balance, equity or the higher of the two, from the rollover time you set. When the limit is reached, the panel informs you and blocks new trades. You can also choose to close everything at the limit.
- Profit target, measured on equity or on running profit. When an equity target is reached, new trades are blocked. You can also choose to close everything at the target.
- Limits for maximum risk per trade, maximum spread, maximum open trades and maximum slippage.
Changes on the Rules page apply only after you save them.
History analysis, insights and recommendations
The History page turns your closed trades into something you can learn from. Choose today, the last 7 days, the last 30 days or the whole history, for all symbols or only the current chart symbol. The page shows your results and your balance curve, including a calendar view with the daily profit and loss. It then gives insights and recommendations based on your own closed trades.
Insights describe what the numbers show. Examples are your net result and profit factor, your win rate compared with the win rate you need to break even, your average win against your average loss, and how long you hold winners compared with losers. They also show your strongest and weakest weekday and hour, your strongest and weakest symbol, how buys compare with sells, your longest losing run, your biggest drop from a peak, and how much your lot size varies.
Recommendations give concrete next steps. They also look at your own settings, such as your daily limit, risk setting, default target and maximum open trades. For example, they may point out that your daily limit allows many average losses, or that your default target needs a higher win rate than you have.
The more closed trades you have, the more reliable these notes are. With fewer than ten trades they are only a hint. They are not financial advice.
Interface
Dark and light themes, a glassy style, adjustable scale, and three panel sizes: the full panel, a strip panel and a minimized view.
Hotkeys, optional sounds and a quick help menu are also included.
Who it suits
Generally, traders who place their trades by hand and want consistent risk, clear rules and a record they can review and learn from.
It suits:
- Scalpers and day traders who need fast entries. The trade lines are already on the chart, the lot size is calculated for you, and hotkeys place the order in one step.
- Swing and position traders who hold trades for days or weeks. Break-even, partial closes and a trailing stop are monitored by the panel, so you do not need to watch the chart all day.
- Traders who manage several positions at once. The Manage page lists every open trade with its settings, and you can close one trade, all winning trades, all losing trades or everything.
- Beginners who are still building a risk routine. The panel sizes each position from the risk you choose, so every trade carries the same risk, and the Rules page keeps your limits in one place.
- Experienced traders who want to stop breaking their own rules. The daily loss limit, the profit target and the limits for spread, slippage and open trades are checked for you, and they only change when you save them.
- Prop firm and funded account traders who must keep to a daily loss limit. The limit can be based on balance, equity or the higher of the two, from the rollover time. Please check and confirm the firm’s rules.
- Traders who want to review their own results. The History page turns your closed trades into insights and recommendations based purely on your own trading.
