Session Boxes draws the Asia (Tokyo), Europe (London) and US (New York) trading sessions as rectangles on an intraday chart. Each box spans the session's high and low, so you can see where each market traded, how wide the range was and where sessions overlap.
How it works
- Session hours are entered in each market's local time (Tokyo 09:00-18:00, London 08:00-17:00 and New York 08:00-17:00 by default).
- UK and US daylight saving are applied automatically, so the boxes stay on the right bars all year.
- Your broker's server time is detected from the terminal. Most brokers shift their server clock with US daylight saving (the "New York close" setup); this is the default. You can also pick a fixed offset or type the offset by hand.
- A box starts at the first bar of the session and grows with each new high or low until the session ends.
- An optional label shows the session name and its range in price, points or pips, and an optional dotted line marks 50% of the range.
- A small panel shows which sessions are open now and the range of the current or last session.
Inputs
- Sessions: show/hide, start and end time (HHMM, local market time) and colour for Asia, Europe and US.
- Server time: time zone mode (auto, fixed offset or manual) and manual offset from UTC.
- Display: fill boxes, label with name and range, range unit (price, points or pips), 50% mid-line, sessions kept on chart, bars to scan, status panel and its corner.
Limits
- Intraday timeframes only; on D1 and above the panel asks you to switch.
- Boxes are built from chart bars. A session that starts inside a bar begins at the next bar.
- Default hours are typical trading hours, not official exchange schedules, and holidays are not included.
The indicator only draws sessions. It does not trade or give signals.
