Broker Clock and New York Session

Broker Clock and New York Session answers a question every MetaTrader user meets sooner or later: what time is it on my broker's server, and what time is it in New York?

Broker servers run on many different clocks: UTC all year, GMT+2/+3 following US summer time, or GMT+2/+3 following European summer time. For a few weeks every spring and autumn, when the US and Europe change their clocks on different dates, a fixed offset is wrong by one hour. This indicator finds the right one for you.

What it shows

  • Your broker's GMT offset, detected two ways: from the terminal (server time against GMT) and from the price history (the weekly close, 17:00 New York at CME and at almost every broker). It also shows which rule the server follows: fixed all year, US summer time or European summer time.
  • A warning if the two disagree, which usually means the computer's clock or time zone is wrong.
  • The time in New York, London, Tokyo and Sydney, with their current UTC offsets.
  • Which sessions are open: New York stocks (09:30-16:00), New York FX (08:00-17:00), London (08:00-16:30), Tokyo (09:00-15:00), Sydney (07:00-16:00), each in local time.
  • A countdown to the New York stock market open, or to the close while it is open.
  • Optional shading of the New York, London and Tokyo sessions on the chart for the last days (on timeframes up to H1). Where London overlaps New York, the New York color is shown.

Inputs

  • Panel position (any corner), font size, colors.
  • Which sessions to shade and for how many days.
  • Cross-check with the weekly closes in the history (on by default).

  • Daylight-time rules used: US (2nd Sunday of March to 1st Sunday of November), EU/UK (last Sunday of March to last Sunday of October), Australia (1st Sunday of October to 1st Sunday of April). Checked against the official time zone database for 2024-2027.
  • Exchange holidays and early closes are not shown.
  • It does not trade and does not change any setting. It works on any symbol and timeframe.
